The document outlines an Adaptive Teaching Guide for a lesson on sampling and sampling distribution at New Generation International School. It includes lesson objectives, prerequisite assessments, and activities designed to help students understand key concepts such as random sampling, parameters, statistics, and how to calculate sample mean, variance, and standard deviation. The guide emphasizes the importance of statistics in real-world applications and includes both pre- and post-lesson remediation activities.

ADAPTIVE TEACHING GUIDE

MET # 3 Sampling and Sampling distribution
Lesson 1 : Random sampling
Lesson 2: Parameter/Statistic
Lesson 3: Sampling Distribution for the Sample mean
Lessson 4: Sampling distribution for the Variance and Standard Deviation

Prerequisite Content-knowledge: Key concepts of sampling and sampling distribution

Prerequisite Skill: Problem Solving Skills and Analyzation

Prerequisites Assessment: Motivational activity

Pre-lesson Remediation Activity:

1. For Students with Insufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):

The students will be asked on their idea about sampling distribution

2. For Students with Fairly Sufficient Level on Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):

The students will be asked on what is the difference between a mean, variance and standard deviation
Introduction:
1. TIME ALLOTMENT: 2 SESSIONS
2. RUA (the knowledge the students are expected to gain from learning the topic/lesson):
At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:
1. Understand the difference between a parameter and statistic
2. Calculate the mean, variance and standard deviation of a sampling distribution
3. Solve problems involving sample mean, variance and standard deviation
3. Context where the students are going to apply their learning (In what PAA/EFAA and personal use):
This lesson will raise awareness of the significance of statistics and probability in real-world situations.
4. Overview of the lesson
a. The students will be asked few questions :
• Whenever you hear the word sampling, what comes to your mind?
• Are you familiar with the word parameter and statistic?
b. The teacher will define random sampling and discuss its advantages and disadvantages
c. The teacher will differentiate parameter and statistic
d. The teacher will discuss how to get the sample mean, variance and standard deviation
e. After the discussion, the teacher will give an activity wherein students will get the sample mean, variance and Standard deviation

Student’s Experiential Learning:

RANDOM SAMPLING

Selecting subjects so that all members of a population have an equal and independent chance of being selected
ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE OF RANDOM SAMPLING

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PARAMETER AND STATISTIC

Example :
3.4 SAMPLING DISTRIBUTION FOR THE VARIANCE AND STANDARD DEVIATION
A sampling distribution of the sample variances and sample standard deviations of a population N can be constructed by following
the same procedures for the sampling distribution of the sample means.
Sample variance computational basis
RUA of a Student’s Learning:

For assessment, the students will be asked to compute for the sample mean, variance and standard deviation

Suppose a population consists of the scores of 5 students in a particular quiz as follows: 9,12,15,18, and 20. By using a
sampling distribution estimate the population mean using a random variable size n=2.

Post-lesson Remediation Activity:

The students will be asked to have an advanced study about central limit theorem
