Assignment

A computer is an electronic device that processes data and produces output based on instructions. Its hardware components include the CPU, RAM, storage devices (HDD/SSD), motherboard, GPU, power supply, and cooling system, all of which work together to enable functionality. Additional components like sound cards and peripherals also contribute to the computer's overall performance.

Define computer. Explain computer hardware components?

Computer
A computer is an electronic device that is capable of accepting data (input), processing it, and producing
results (output) based on a set of instructions (program) or algorithms. It can store and retrieve data,
perform calculations, communicate with other computers or devices, and run a variety of applications
and software programs. The basic components of a computer system include hardware (physical
components) such as the central processing unit (CPU), memory (RAM), storage devices, input/output
devices, and software (programs and applications). Computers are used in a wide range of industries
and for many different purposes, from personal use in homes to large-scale data processing and analysis
in businesses and research institutions.

Computer hardware components

Computer hardware components are the physical parts of a computer that can be seen and touched.
These components work together to form the computer system and allow it to function properly. Here
are some of the main components of a computer:

 Central Processing Unit (CPU)

The CPU is the brain of the computer that performs most of the processing tasks. It executes
instructions stored in computer programs and manages the flow of data.

 Random Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is the temporary storage space that the computer uses to hold data and instructions while they
are being processed. The more RAM a computer has, the faster it can perform tasks.

 Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD)

These are the primary storage devices in a computer that store data and files permanently. HDDs use
spinning disks to read and write data, while SSDs use flash memory.

 Motherboard
The motherboard is the main circuit board of the computer that connects all the other components
together. It contains the CPU, RAM, and other essential components.
 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
The GPU is a specialized processor that is designed to handle graphics and video tasks. It is essential for
playing games and running graphics-intensive applications.

 Power Supply Unit (PSU)

The PSU provides power to all the other components in the computer. It converts the AC power from
the wall outlet into the DC power that the computer needs to operate.

 Cooling System
The cooling system includes fans and heat sinks that keep the computer components from overheating.
It is essential for preventing damage to the computer and ensuring its longevity.

 Other components
There are many other hardware components that can be added to a computer, such as sound cards,
network adapters, and peripherals like keyboards and mice. Each of these components plays an
important role in the overall function of the computer system.
