Activity 3 – Focusing on Creating my Classroom

Learning Management Plan

FIELD STUDY 2

Name of FS Student Robert Barawid Jr., Mary Jane M. Reyes, Lerma Tejano, Mica Jenika Villar, Angel Aquino,
Christina Erika Naval
Course, Year and Section BSE-English/4th Year
Name of FS Mentor Chenee Marie Cacho
Date

At the end of this activity, the FS student must be able to achieve the following intended learning outcomes:
1. explain the components of learning management plan and its importance;
2. identify the best practices in creating effective learning management plan; and
3. promote behavioral, social and academic success in a structured environment that caters to tolerance, exemplary
behavior and learning.

Classroom management or meeting the needs of students can be one of the crucial parts of teaching-learning process.
However, it is the key component in any educational setting. If students are safe in a learning environment, then teaching-
learning process can take place. This activity focuses on creating a classroom routine that will make teachers and students
more productive. As a pre-service teacher, you should be committed in making classroom a safe and challenging environment,
engaging your students through the curriculum, as well as getting to know them and interacting with each other. You should
develop a democratic and equitable learning environment so that students can learn effectively.

Direction: Read the following instruction below before doing the indicated tasks.

1. Conduct interview with a teacher regarding best practices about effective learning management plan.
2. Observe etiquette during the interview process.
3. Always follow the minimum health safety protocol.

Rules and Discipline

Ms. Ranoy set her common and major rules in the different classes she’s handling. During her class
hours, the students are not allowed to use any of their gadgets because Ms. Ranoy wants them to
listen actively to the teachers. For her, the major rule that she always reminds her students is to be
always respectful to the teachers and their peers. She also stated that their behavior has something
to do with their grades therefore they should not just rely on achieving a high grade but also
showing good behavior. “Behavior always counts.”

Scheduling and Organization

Ms. Ranoy organizes the class with direct and clear instructions/ directions so that her students
can prepare and be ready for their class. This corresponds to the idea of an ideal framework Ms.
Ranoy wants for her classroom.

FIELD STUDY 2

Instructional Techniques

The most needed instructional technique that Ms. Ranoy imposes is the differentiated
instructions. Examples are lecture-based instructions and technology-based instructions such as
the used of PowerPoint presentations/video presentations and so on. Her main goal is to make
the students understand their tasks or the activity that they are going to do. Since the students
are diverse, the usage of one instruction only will limit the other students from understanding the
idea of the lesson and the tasks given.

Communication

During her years of teaching Ms. Ranoy adopted different unique strategies in communicating
with her students. She interacts with them as their mother or just friend and not the authoritative
type of teacher for them to easily approach her and not feel shy and build fear as their teacher.
Although she’s not so strict, she still won’t allow her students to reach the extent that they no
longer respect her. She communicates with them with love and gentleness. She mentioned
someone’s experience having negative feedback about being an authoritative teacher whom the
students feared. She states that teaching doesn't need to inflict fear to the student but to show
them that you as a teacher need to be respected to matter what achievements they have or how
much fame they have.

Classroom Design

Ms. Ranoy said that a classroom should always be a space for a conducive and comfortable
learning environment where the students have access to the tools needed for learning. The
classroom design which she prefers is open to independent and collaborative learning. In terms of
the seating arrangements, she asks permission from the homeroom teacher to assess and tries to
modify the classroom design of these teachers. She prefers the traditional arrangement (all seats
facing in front) than the "Horseshoe/U-shape" type of arrangement. The seating arrangement may
distract or cause some problems while teaching.

1. Based on the result/data of your interview, are you going to apply or adapt those best practices? Justify
your answer.

Yes, some of it the truth is as a group we kind of have different views on some of the principles shared by Ms.
Ranoy, one of the things that is debated for the whole session is about establishing an authority. During our
observation, we saw a lot of drawbacks of not establishing authority inside the classroom. These drawbacks
became problems as time went by for the reason that the student tended to overwhelm the teacher. On the contrary,
Ms. Ranoy surprised us that she was not fond of this setup inside the classroom. She wants to create a connection
between them, like a mother to a child. Using this approach, the student will respect the teacher emotionally rather
than through fear. As of now we still cannot think of what is better, but we all know that having authority and
connection with the student are equally important and it’s up to us, future educators to create something that can
harness these two ideals.

2. Is there a meaningful effect of a well-planned classroom management in achieving a productive study

environment? Substantiate your answer by providing evidence.

There is a lot of meaningful effect of well-planned classroom management in achieving a productive study
environment, for us there are two important effects of managing the classroom well. First is the relationship of the
student to the teacher and vice versa, establishing good classroom management can create a more wholesome
relationship between the teacher and the students. One of the examples that we can think of is the difference in
reaction between the different CTs we’ve seen while managing a noisy classroom. Well-organized classrooms are
seen to have less time making the students pay attention to the students and minimize their noise than a non-well-
organized class. This also relates to our next important piece in learning, which is time. Time is one of the most crucial
parts of learning, it affects the flow of lesson and cause a lot of problems while teaching. Having a well-planned
classroom management can maximize the time used in discussion and learning rather than the time spent being
noisy or doing unrelated stuff. That’s why as future educators we need to create and take into account the right
classroom management we have while teaching.

1. What is the set of ideals, values, beliefs, and goals on learning management plan?

Always be clear and complete in giving instructions to the learners. Also, make sure to ask if they have any questions
or concerns about it. All the students should be informed about the tasks given and the date of submission.
Authority. During our observations, I’ve seen how important it is to establish the authority in the class. Without this,
the respect of the students will grow weak as if they are just talking to a friend and not to their teacher. Having the
authority can make the students follow instructions and avoid doing unnecessary things that are not even needed in
their learning process.
Inclusivity. It is important to be sensitive with the different aspects in learning. A classroom with no sense of
discrimination where the students feel safe, heard, and understood.

These are some of the major rules that I will impose to ensure discipline and order in my class:
• Be punctual. Punctuality is a way of respecting the teacher. Being on time also means that the student is

FIELD STUDY 2

How will you design your classroom to create an appropriate and effective learning environment? Illustrate and justify
your design.

The classroom design is very important in having an effective learning environment because it is an essential part
of classroom management that will support both the teaching and learning process. In designing a classroom
environment, several factors need to be considered including layout, furniture, technology, lighting, and decorations.
Classroom design must be comfortable for both the teacher and students to have successful learning. The table and
chair of the teacher are placed in front so he/she can monitor his/her students. The chairs of the students are divided
into two rows facing the board so that the teacher can easily go around. Also, there must be cabinets where they can
get books to use. The classroom must also be well-ventilated to provide comfort to the students and produce a
pleasant atmosphere. It will also eliminate anything that can cause distractions and stress. Since nowadays teachers
must integrate technology into learning, there must be a television that can be used in the presentation of the lessons.
In addition, classrooms must have natural lighting as much as possible by incorporating large windows and adjustable
blinds or curtains. Natural light has been shown to improve focus and overall well-being. Lastly, classrooms must
keep the decor simple, functional, and visually appealing. Use neutral colors on the walls to create a calm environment
that promotes concentration. Display educational posters, charts, and student work to showcase achievements and
provide visual aids for learning. Consider adding plants to bring nature indoors, which can contribute to the
enhancement of overall learning.

1. What classroom rules and procedures will you formulate to ensure discipline and order in your class? How will you ensure safety and
security of your students?

Mica Jenika Vilar

I will formulate a classroom rule that set a clear expectations and guidelines for behavior but first I need to understand the
needs and purpose for classroom rules and procedures so I can create an effective learning environment that will benefit
both me and my students.
1. Treat others with respect at all times,
2. Listen to the teacher when s/he speaks.
3. Ask for help when you need it.
These classroom rules and procedures are some that I think will create a classroom culture that encourages learning and
collaboration while promoting safety, respect, and responsibility among of my students .

Christina Erika Naval

It is very important to formulate classroom rules and procedures to ensure discipline in a class in order for them to feel safe
and secure while learning. I will formulate a well-disciplined classroom environment where respect and love for each other
will dominate, not hatred and competition. School is considered students’ second home, so as well, school must help
students not only in their academics and to develop their skills and abilities but also to be wise, respectful, and a good person
who knows what is right and wrong and considers other people’s feelings valid, just like what their parents taught them in
their home. I will establish a rule that promotes respect among their peers, and likewise for me as their teacher. I will
encourage them to listen and respect each other’s opinions and ideas. I will be a role model for them because I believe that
their environment has a big impact on how they behave and learn. I will also eliminate the fear and pressure they feel, though
I’m fully aware that this may be difficult, but there’s nothing wrong with trying and just being optimistic. Once this kind of
behavior is established, my students will now feel safe and secure, so in that case, they will have fun and enjoy learning.

Angel Aquino
The classroom rules and procedure that I need to establish in my class is first, before the class started students need to
greet the teachers good morning or good afternoon and begin with prayer that recited by selected student. Second, it is also
important habit for students by asking them to arrange their chair, pick up the pieces of paper before they take their sits.
Before we start the lesson, we will be having a motivational activity to know what the lesson to be discuss. During the
discussion, make sure to call both passive and active learners to recite and share their thoughts. Next, incorporate activity
or group activities to collaborate with their peers. Then collect their activities and check it to know if they are be able to
understand the lesson you have discussed.
To ensure teh safety anf security of my students, I will provide a first aid kit inside my room in case of emergency. I should
also get rid of anything that could be dangerous like not putting any heavy things or materials above the cabinet. Moreover,
I will impose rules such as requiring students to notify me if they have any concerns from their peers or in their environment
inside the school.

1. What classroom rules and procedures will you formulate to ensure discipline and order in your class? How will you
ensure safety and security of your students?

Lerma Tejano
These are some of the major rules that I will impose to ensure discipline and order in my class:
• Be punctual. Punctuality is a way of respecting the teacher. Being on time also means that the student is ready on the
learning that he/she will going to receive. Late comers will be required to write a letter explaining why they arrived late in my
class.
• No cursing. The students should treat everyone with kindness and respect and that is by refraining from using such words
even with the reason that it is just an expression. Anyone that will be heard using foul words will be subjected to writing a
letter of apology.
• Only use gadgets when needed. Gadgets can be utilized during class for academic purposes only. However, if the
materials needed on the lesson does not include the use of gadgets, the students will be prohibited from using it. Anyone
who will violate the rule will have their gadget/s confiscated.
• Raise your hand when you want/need to say something. It is much better to seek attention this way than to interrupt
everyone with a sudden talking.
All the rules that are mentioned below sums up the word RESPECT. It is very important for the students to learn this because
with that, everything follows. If anyone violates it, there are consequences. The consequences that are mentioned will serve as
a correction for the students to learn and not to be harmed. Giving them written works such as letter of apology and letter of
explanation and confiscation of gadgets, I believe, do no harm, or affect the security and safety of the students. These will never
put them as stake. It is a way of educating them.

Mary Jane Reyes

1. As the teacher enters the room, students must stand and greet their teachers with good morning/good afternoon as a sign
of respect to their teacher.
2. Be on time /Be present always. If the teacher sets time, students must go or be on time always. If students fail to attend
the classes, she/he must write an excuse letter that will be submitted to their teacher.
3. Treat others how you want to be treated, with kindness and respect.
4. Raise your hand if you have a question and wait to be called on.
5. Always try your best. Never give up!

Robert Barawid Jr.

In establishing classroom rules, I want to present them with the word “respect”, I know that it should be given as the student
knows that you as a teacher should be respected, but as of now we observe that the student doesn’t really know the word
respect. For them respect should be earned and shouldn’t be based on status, this means that even though they see us as
a teacher they won’t respect you because they base their respect on how you handle them. That’s why I will establish
authority while explaining to them that we are not on the same level, and even though they may be smarter than me, they
still need to respect me because I have something that they don’t have which is status and experience. Authority always
seems negative in other people especially students but for a classroom to work it always needed a leader and as a teacher
I will guide and lead my students.

2. What strategies will you employ for rewards and consequences?

Mica Jenika Vilar

Rewards and consequences are powerful tools for shaping students' behavior and motivation in the classroom.
However, they need to be designed and implemented carefully to avoid negative effects and promote positive
outcomes.
Verbal praise, tokens, privileges, activities, or grades may be used as rewards while warnings, time-outs, loss of
points, or referrals may be used as consequences. But before implementing those we need to have a plan that is in
agreement with learning objectives, classroom regulations, and student needs. To help design a rewards and
consequences system, one should first define the desired behaviors and outcomes that should be rewarded or
reinforced, as well as undesired behaviors and outcomes that must be prevented or corrected.

Christina Erika Naval

I will employ a balanced approach to encourage positive behavior and address misconduct in my class. I will set
clear expectations in order for my students to understand that their behaviors or actions will lead to rewards, and
some will result in consequences. Also, giving rewards if they do better with the target of encouraging them to do
their best will help build their confidence and enhance their skills. I will also employ positive reinforcement, such as
praise, recognition, or incentives, to reinforce positive behaviors because I believe that rewards can motivate my
students to continue displaying desired behaviors. To add, consequences like warning and punishment if they violate
classroom rules are also applied. I will use consequences as learning opportunities in such a way that I will encourage
them to reflect on their actions, understand the consequences of their behavior, and learn from their mistakes so that
it will promote their personal growth and development. In conclusion, it is very important to remember that rewards
and consequences are used as tools to guide students’ behavior and promote a positive learning environment. They
should be applied consistently, fairly, and with the intention of helping students develop self-discipline and take
responsibility for their actions and behavior.

Angel Aquino
The strategies that I will employ for giving rewards is giving them plus points for good behavior and good performance
and during card day, I will give them certificate that will rewarded students that is good listener, neat work, friendly,
helper etc.
For employing their consequences, I will always call their attention during class for students who have poor behavior.

Lerma Tejano
Appreciation is very important especially in the generation of the students nowadays that are sensitive to the words
they hear from other people. During class, rewards can be done by recognizing everyone who answers a certain
question or those who are participative in class.
• A simple “very good” or a compliment will boost the desire of the student to participate more. Truly, words can affect
one’s behavior positively or negatively.
• I can also employ the “plus points” reward sometimes (quiz or activity) to the student who performs well.
In terms of consequences:
• Requiring extra written works (letters) as mentioned above.
• When it comes to cheating, his/her score will not be recorded unless he wishes to re-take the quiz all by
himself/herself.
• The student who is neither attentive nor participative and is talkative in class will be called to recite and answer a
certain question. Failing in doing so will remain standing.

2. What strategies will you employ for rewards and consequences?

Robert Barawid Jr.

I will try to implement the use of chips or leaderboards in their everyday activity. During their everyday activities
points will be given based on the difficulty of the task given, for example, the difference between quizzes and
recitation. This leaderboard doesn’t have a prize, but it is merely focused on who is the one at the top. This is a
competitive base and people may think that it is only focused on honor or highly skilled students but in this
leaderboard, anyone can gain points in a lot of ways. I will also give perks to some lower-skilled students and
sometimes give debuff or give the higher-skilled students some problems. This type of setup needs a lot more
research but as of now I can grasp and see how this will result.

Mary Jane Reyes

Rewards and consequences are not just incentives or punishments for students' actions. They are also signals that
communicate your expectations, values, and feedback to your students. They can influence how your students
perceive themselves, their learning, and their relationship with you and their peers and fair for each behaviour and
outcome. Verbal praise, tokens, privileges, activities, or grades may be used as rewards when someone is excelling
in my class, while warnings, time-outs, loss of points, or referrals may be used as consequences. It is also important
to communicate the rewards and consequences system to students by explaining the rationale and expectations.
