HUMAN DISEASES

1.PEST CONTROL.
-This method involves the
management of organisms involved
in the spread of a disease such as
tsetse flies (sleeping sickness),
mosquitoes (malaria), worms (hook
worm,etc).This methods used are
physical, cultural, biological,
legislative and chemical (to be used
when other methods fail)

2.FOOD TREATMENT.
-Methods that kill pathogens and
other microbes in food treating are
referred to as"Food preservatives
.The principles involved in food
treatment fall under four biological
principles.

a.Inhibiting multiplication of germs

b.killing microorgay

c.preventing growth of microbes


d.Inhibiting enzymes in the food
from digest it.

METHODS OF FOOD TREATMENT.

1.DRYING.
-this lowers moisture content of the
food which is unfit for microbes to
grow.

2.SALTING AND SUGAR.


-this method removes water from
the microbes by Osmosis.The
microbes are killed.

3.LOW TEMPERATURE.
-low temperature inactivate the
enzymes; stopping their activity.

4.PRESERVATIVES.
-kill germs or inactive them.

5.IONIZING RADIATIONS.
-radio isotopes produce ionizing,
radiations that kill microbes.

6.HEALTH SERVICES.
-this is the responsibility of the
health ministry through different
sectors of the ministry.

They carry out the following duties:

(1)inspect shops,restaurants that


sell food to ensure highest
standards of hygiene are
maintained.

(2)provide maternity services that


offer entenatal clinics.
(3)treat patients
(4)carry out immunizations.
