DC Bridge.
1. The schematic diagram of a Wheatstone bridge with values of the elements is
shown. The battery voltage is 5V and the internal resistance negligible. The
galvanometer has a current sensitivity of 10mm/µA and an internal resistance
of 100Ω. Calculate the deflection of the galvanometer caused by the 55Ω
B [ I = 3.32A , deflection = 33.2mm]
unbalance in arm BC.

2. The galvanometer of problem 1 is replaced by one with an internal resistance

of 500Ω
Ω and a current sensitivity of 1mm/µA. Assuming that a deflection of
1mm can be observed on the galvanometer scale, determine if this new
galvanometer in capable of detecting
detectin the 5Ω
Ω unbalanced in arm BC of figure
1. [I = 2.24µA , d = 2.24mm ].

3. The Murray loop test consists of two conductors of the same material and the
same cross sectional area. Both cables are connected 5280 feet from the test
setup at the cable terminal. Thee bridge M balanced, when R1 is 100 100Ω and R2
is 300Ω. Find the distance from the ground fault to the test set. [[L = 240 Ft ].

AC Bridge.

4. The impedance of the ac bride in figure 2, are as

following:
Z1= 20030oΩ, Z2= 1500oΩ, Z3= 250-
o
40 Ω, and Zx= Z4=unknown. Determine the
constants of the unknown arm.
[Zx=187.5-70Ω].Ω]. Figure 2

5. The Maxwell Bridge is used to measure the inductive reactance.

R3 = 100kΩ, R2 = 5.1kΩ,
5.1k C1 = 0.01µF and R1 = 470kΩ.
Find the series _equivalent resistance and inductance.
[ R = 1.09kΩ , L = 5.1H ].

5. A similar angle bridge is used to measure capacitive impedance at frequency

of 2 kHz. The bridge constants at balance are :
R3 = 100Ω, R2 = 50kΩ,
50k C3 = 100µF and R1 = 10kΩ.
Find the equivalent series
se circuit of the unknown impedance.
[ R = 500kΩ , C = 20μF ].
