The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, has issued a notice for B.Tech 7th semester students to opt for a Five Year Dual Degree (B.Tech-M.Tech) Programme based on their academic performance. Students with a CGPA of 7.0 or higher and no backlogs can apply by July 15, 2024, via email, while those wishing to continue with the 4-year B.Tech programme need not apply. Final specialization will be determined by the concerned department, and once allotted to the Dual Degree programme, students cannot revert to the 4-year B.Tech programme.

NOTICE TO B.TECH 7TH SEMESTER STUDENTS FOR EXERCISING


OPTION FOR FIVE YEAR DUAL DEGREE PROGRAMME

All the current B.Tech 7th Semester students who took admission in 4-year
B.Tech programme are hereby informed that they may exercise an option to opt
for completing Master degree in Five Year Dual Degree (B.Tech-M.Tech)
Programme based on their academic performance.

The students of the 4 year B.Tech Programme those who are having CGPA
greater than or equal to 7.0 and no backlog in any course up to the 6 th semester
may opt for the 5 year Dual Degree (B.Tech-M.Tech) Programme. They will be
graduated with both B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in the respective branch of
studies. The degrees for both B.Tech as well as M.Tech will be awarded at the
end of five years after successful completion of the course.

The students can apply for opting to Dual Degree programme using the
prescribed form attached with this notification. The filled in application form in
all respect is to be sent as an attachment through email
([email protected]) on or before 15th July 2024(11.59 pm.) The students
willing to continue with 4-year B.Tech programme are not required to apply. The
students, who will be finally allotted to DD Programme, shall be required to
submit the hard copies of the application with original signature of the student
and the parents.
The specialization of Dual Degree programme of any student shall be finalized
by the concerned Department. A student shall get an opportunity to continue with
4-year B.Tech programme if desired specialization is not obtained. However,
after final allotment to 5 year Dual Degree (B. Tech-M.Tech) programme the
student shall not be allowed to continue with the 4-year B.Tech. Programme. .
