opinion- making, persuasion, and emphasis.

delivering a persuasive speech based on an

acknowledged information sources, grammatical
signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis,
and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and
behavior.

Activity 1. YOUR TAGLINE SOUNDS FAMILIAR
A. INTRODUCTION
Directions: Guess the name of the television commercial
by listening to its tagline.
1. “May pasobra, dahil special ka.” – REBISCO
2. “Oh, hooray for today.” – MCDONALDS
3. “Batang may laban.” – BONAKID
4. “We’ve got it all for you.” – SM MALLS
5. “Para kanino ka bumabangon?” – NESCAFE

Activity 2. WATCH AND EVALUATE


B. DEVELOPMENT Learners will watch video clip of a detergent commercial and
will answer the following questions:

Guide Questions:
1. What have you observed in the presented
commercial?
2. Does the commercial affect/has an impact on
you?
3. What do you think is the purpose of the video
that you have watched?
4. Did the commercial persuade or encourage you
to buy or patronize their product?

The teacher will let the learners guess the topic based on the
previous activities.

The teacher will then present the Most Essential Learning


Competency (MELC) and the learning objectives to guide
the learners throughout.

Propaganda
It is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing
attitudes, perspectives, and emotions of people or
communities toward some cause or position by
presenting only one side of an argument.
It is usually repeated and presented over a wide
variety of media in order to attract the interests of a
greater majority. Propaganda is always biased and can
be negative or positive.

Always remember that in any propaganda


technique being used, there is an intention behind it.
As a reader/consumer, one must examine the
truthfulness and accuracy of the information.

Types of Propaganda

1. Bandwagon –this is a technique that persuades


people by showing them that everyone else is
doing the same thing. It also implies that one
must accept or reject an idea because everyone
else is accepting or rejecting it.
2. Testimonial – this is a technique wherein a
famous (celebrity) or seemingly authoritative
person recommends a product or service and
vouches for its value. A testimony of one’s
preference.
3. Repetition – it is when the product name,
pattern, or logo (even picture) is repeated many
times during an advertisement. This technique
may use a jingle, which is appealing and fits in
the minds of the masses.
4. Emotional Words – words that are used to make a
consumer feel strongly about someone or
something are used.
5. Plain Folks - This is the use of common people to
sell
or promote a product or service. This
technique is
commonly used in the world of advertising
because buyers are on the lookout for real
experiences.

technique.

Create and perform a skit as an advertisement
using the technique testimonial. Consider a
product/service that will help learners like you to get
motivated and enthusiastic in learning. POST-SHARE
Create an e-poster/poster that will convince everyone
to continuously be cautious with Covid-19. Use the
bandwagon as a propaganda technique.

Craft a slogan using emotional words as the
propaganda technique to influence today’s youth on
the importance of mental health awareness.

advertisement maker, do the following task:
· Create your advertisement with a brand name,
image, logo, and tagline.
· You can use any propaganda technique of your desire.
· Use any application or website to edit your
assignment.
· Size must be 8.5 by 11 in Portrait or Landscape.
· It will be passed on February 28, 2023, Tuesday.
