About the University
Annamalai University, one of the largest Universities in terms of disciplinary diversity and student

campus of 1000 acres, the University houses about 50 Departments of Study under Eight Faculties.
Founded by the legendary philanthropist and farsighted visionary, Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar in 1929,
Annamalai University is playing a key role in social, cultural, and economic uplift of the people across
the rungs of society for nearly a century, Annamalainagar, the University Town, is located just to the
east of Chidambaram, the Abode of the Cosmic Dancer, Lord Nataraja. To promote Tamil Language
and Literature, Rajah Sir S. RM. Annamalai Chettiar founded Sri Minakshi College, Sri Minakshi Tamil

University came into existence on 01.01.1929. Annamalai University is playing incredible role in the
lives of the people near and far. Until 2013, the University was governed by the Annamalai University
Act, 1928. In 2013, the Annamalai University Act, 2013 (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2013), was passed and
has come into force from September 25, 2013. The University, which remained “unitary” in status until

Being multi-faculty institution, Annamalai University has evolved as a time tested system of
administration to ensure the ceaseless transaction of teaching-learning, boundless expansion of
research and innovation, and selfless extension of service to the society. All the programmes offered
by the Directorate of Distance education (DDE) are approved and accredited by the Distance Education
Board (DEB). The on-campus programmes are duly approved/accredited by the competent bodies
such as NAAC, NBA, AICTE, NCTE, ICAR, etc. In 2022, the University was accredited with ‘A+’ Grade by
NAAC in the fourth cycle of accreditation.
About the Department of Soil Science and Agriculture Chemistry

Agriculture established in the year 1979. The Department offers courses in Soil Science and
Agricultural chemistry for Diploma in (Ag.)/(Hort.) B.Sc.(Hons) Agri, Horti, M.Sc.(Ag.) and Ph.D.
Programmes. The Department has produced 201 M.Sc.(Ag.) and 45 Ph.D. graduates. Many funding

About the Conference

At the global level, the amount of arable land is steadily declining due to human demands and
population growth. The contemporary farming system's goal of increasing production through faulty
management practices damaged the soil quality and deficiencies in several nutrients in the field.
According to global trends, degradation is causing a consistent reduction in productivity on 20% of
cropland, 16% of forest land, 19% of grassland, and 27% of rangeland. If left unchecked, this can have a
big impact on the world's food security. It is highly essential to maintain soil health for growing healthy
food, to reduce climate by storing carbon and for the long-term sustainability of agricultural systems.
The health of the soil is crucial. We can guarantee that our planet remains healthier and greener by
taking steps to improve the health of the soil.In light of this, the above conference will provide a forum
for sharing of cutting-edge agricultural innovations discovered by distinguished academics both
nationally and internationally to address the sustainability challenges of crop nutrition, soil health, and
food and nutritional security.
