II. School’s Current Situation

West Integrated School was first located at J. Rosales Avenue in front of Capitol Building. The land is owned by the province of Agusan del Norte. Then it
was transferred temporarily at the grandstand of Butuan City, near to the old Division Office (now Butuan City SPED Center).
The land was donated by Mr. Manuel T. Guingona having a 19,058 square meters including the portion occupied by the Deped Butuan City Division
Office.
The school was transferred to Barangay Dagohoy last 1984 having a ten-room building donated by Chinese Chamber of Commerce and due to the
increase of enrolment Bagong Lipunan building were constructed.
The school were supervised by the different school heads namely Mrs. Josefina Lagua, Mr. Ceferino Lovete, Miss Gregoria Espinosa, Mrs. Antonia
Grana, Miss Hyda Monoy, Mrs. Gardeopatra Lopez, Mrs. Carmenchita G. Buranday, Mrs. Prima Fortun, Mrs. Lucenda Makiling, Mr. Rodrigo Madelo, Mr. Jose
Cerez, Mr. Rodrigo Latonero, Mrs. Esterlina Bonsay, Mrs. Fe M. Puspus ,Mr. Felix G. Acebu and now Mrs Cresona Estillore.
And just last S.Y. 2019-2020 the school was given the permit to formally operate and integrate junior high school. The name of the school was
replaced from West Central Elementary School to West Integrated School with the School ID 501521.
Now the school has 40 teachers 28 elementary teachers and the 12 JHS teachers. The pupil population of 976 coming from the different barangays
namely: Brgy. Dagohoy, Brgy. J.P. Rizal, Brgy. Imadejas, Brgy. Tandang Sora. Supported by the external and internal stakeholders and also with the public and
private sectors.
Erratic enrolment happens in every school due to the yearly additional new grade level in Junior high school.
For the last 3 years from 2019-2020 the enrolment of West Integrated School varies though only slightly especially with the integration of Grade 7,
8,9 & 10.Ranging from 12 pupils difference (SY 2019-2020),(2020-2021) 9 pupils for the year 2021-2022.
Though enrolment fluctuation is inevitable, the disparateness should not be extreme or the gap must not be extreme or the gap must not be
noticeable. That is in the case of the Enrolment of WIS.
And in the past 2 years of the pandemic situation, the school made it sure that we can address the challenges in basic education brought about by
the said COVID-19 pandemic, the school created a School Learning Continuity Plan (SLCP) aligned with the Department of Education Learning Continuity Plan

which includes adjustments in the key features of the K to 12 curriculum; alignment of learning materials and utilization of modality of delivery while safeguarding
the health and safety of the learners and of the teachers .Signages, floor markings, sanitizers, hand-washing facility and foot bath were made available. The
teachers have continuously adopted the recent guidelines for Alternative Work Arrangement. The school have regular schedule for monitoring personnel’s hygienic
practices and observance to minimum health protocols. Teachers have crafted their Weekly Home Learning Plan and have updated SLM’s and WLAS for their
learners.
Needless to say, majority of the pupils belong to the NORMAL group (541 pupils). So the pupils belong to severely wasted (17) and wasted (95) are
given more attention and focused (112) pupils. They are beneficiaries of the School-Based Feeding Program from 27 overweight pupils and 9 pupils who are
obese.
As far as the gender of the pupils are concerned 353 are Male and 354 are female with a total of 707 pupils in elementary & 232 Male & 202
Female in Junior high school a total of 1,141 all in all.
Textbook are considered as the primary source of reference of both teachers and pupils.
For grade I textbooks, MTB-MLE with 148 pcs., rather with 29 books in excess. More than enough for the Grade I pupils.
Grade II and III MTB-MLE books have also excess. For grade II, with 133 pcs with 51 excess and grade III with 252 pcs of books with a big
disparateness of 129 pcs. in excess.
English II, III, IV, V have more than enough for each pupil, for Grade II 153 pcs. Of books with 71 excess. Grade III, 267 pcs of books with 144 in
excess with grade V English book, there are 149 pcs. With 12 in excess.
Science book in Grades III (278) Grade IV (129) and Grade V (161) and all of these grade levels have an excess of III-(50), IV- (18) and V- (52) pcs.
in excess.
Filipino books for grades I 9148), II (122), III (278), IV (103) with a shortage of 8 pcs., V (109) for the excess only Grades I (29), II (21), III (155) and
V 9 (41) in excess.
For Mathematics books, Grades I with 148 pcs of books and 29 in excess. Grade II with 132 books with 50 in excess, Grade III 266 books with an
excess of 143. Grades IV and V where 118 book with an excess of 7 books for the learner and 141 books with 32 excess.
Aside from the books incurred, we also have other references, teaching aids, equipment especially for Science, English, and Mathematics. These
are available for all grade level.

Topping it all, these materials are a big help to the teachers in making lessons interesting, easier and colorful to the children’s palatability.
Seminars and Trainings is a must for teachers to upgrade their teaching process. One must be updated in order to be competitive in the world of
advance technology. We must come up with the call of “times” type of teaching.
So as not to be behind with technology teachers has to undergo certain virtual trainings, seminars/webinars and virtual workshops to upgrade
themselves.
For the SLAC sessions out 0f 40 teachers, 30 attended or 89% of the entire teaching staff.
INSET Training attended all teachers-adviser are requiring to attend contextualization for their lesson planning improvement and Action Research
are made to manifest what is in the abstract will be put into hard copy. Other professional’s growth of teaching is computer literacy, by grade level seminars to
augment for those teachers who miss the training, activities and workshops.
Operational expenses are very important in every organization. WIS is not an exception.
The main source of the school’s operating expenses is the monthly MOOE. We also have school canteen to augment other expenses within the
school’s activity. Feeding Program, Fund Raisings are also a big help in realizing school’s projects and programs. Partly, we have membership fee from PTA and
we accept the voluntary membership fee from parents who knows what’s it’s for (canopy, stage etc.). Donations from LGU’s are also accepted because they are
aware of the school’s needs and school activities.
As proof that teachers and pupils were helping and cooperating hand in school, we have awards and prizes which they garnered from contests and
tournaments.
For the last 3 years (2020-2022) the school has 0% drop out rate.
In 3 years, the school has 100% Promotion Rate..
Out of 9 subjects, the disparateness of the result of the MPS is not far from each other. English 53%, Science 48% and Math 43% with the
difference of 5% (English & Science) 5% (Science and Math) and 10% between English and Math. Filipino (57%) Aral Pan. (54%) and MAPEH (60%). You can
also discern between Filipino and Aral Pan. Is only 3%. MAPEH and Aral Pan. Is 6% and Fil. and MAPEH is 3%.
EPP 52%, ESP 72% and MTB 69% has an average of 8% for the subjects above.

Intervention must be done in order that the MPS of every subject area will be increased/improved.
Upon administration of the Reading the Pre-Test, there are a lot of reasons why result is a bit low. Like the gap of two months (summer vacation)
long hibernation of pupils without reading practice and exhilarated vacation.
During Pre-test administration 13% (126 pupils) belongs to Independent level, 19% (186) belongs to Instructional level and an overwhelming of 68%
(664 pupils) belong to Frustration Level.
In the post-test, there was a slight increase of all reading levels. Say Frustration Level decreased by 8% (781 pupils) o 60% for the instructional
level, 2% or 17% of the pupils (166) and the Independent Level increased to 10% or 23% (98 pupils).
All reading levels have a slight increase and Independent level is 10% decrease. Instructional level a mere 2 % and the Frustration level is 8%. The
biggest factor is the pupil’s comprehension problem. They know how to read, but when ask, they don’t know how to answer correctly. Interventions such as Class
Reading Instruction is done half-heartedly, taken for granted and not at all. Another thing is the overlapping of activities and lack pf parent’s follow-up and
cooperation.
Based on the result of the NSBI West Integrated School need building designated for Junior High School and total replacement of the building that
were used by the grade levels Kindergarten-Grade Three. As far as we know the building existed around 1980’s and it’s still standing but it is already infested with
bugs and termites, another problem is when it rains, flooding occurs. The said classrooms are affected and classes are also sacrificed. Floods are happening due
to the different buildings that arise from the vicinity of the school. (DSWD/Division Office/SM/Private houses, newly cemented roads etc.)
As for the need of teachers are concerned, with our current enrolment there a need of 1 additional teacher for Junior High School for the School
Year 2022-2023.
The school campus was already installed with new mirrorized signage. Cars and SUV’s are being doubled parked inside of the school area (the
road itself) and the portion going to Gaisano. It is hazardous on the part of the motorist as well as the especially our pupils wherein they cannot see immediately
the incoming vehicles. The peril of being run-over by vehicles is most likely to happen.
