MICROSOFT WORD

Microsoft word is a word processing application package used for creating document like :-

 Letter
 Messages
 Project
 Report
 Memo
 CV
 Business Card
 Magazine
 Handbill

Microsoft word application allows all user to create ,edit and save documents. A file created with
Microsoft word is referred to as a document.

LOADING MICROSOFT WORD

1) Click on Start Button on the menu bar


2) Point to all program
3) Point to Microsoft office
4) Click Microsoft Office Word

CLOSING MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD


1).Click on close button (X) title on the bar.

THE ENVIRONMENT

The Word Environment consists of the menu bar, title bar, scroll bar, tools bar, maximum button restore
button and close button etc.

Title bar: It displays the name of the application and the filename if it is saved.
Menu bar: It displays list of menu, which control the operation of the program.

Standard toolbar: It displays shortcuts to the controls under the menu lists

Minimize button: Used to reduce the window screen

Maximize button: Used to enlarge the windows screen

Close button: Used to exit a program or close a document

Scroll bar: It moves the page up and down

Ruler: This is used for measurement and margin set


Status bar: It gives information about the current document.

The status bar displays the number of pages and words in the document.

Insertion Point:- This is the location where the next character appears

Formatting toolbar:- This contains buttons used for formatting,

View button:- These changes the layout view of the document to normal, web layout, print layout.

CREATING A NEW DOCUMENT:


1) Click on file on the menu bar
2) Click New
3) Click on blank document and then click OK
SAVING IN MICROSOFT WORD
You can save active document you are working on, whether it is new or it existed previously.
You can save a copy of the active document with a different name or in different location.
Saving a new document (on Hard Disk)

1) Click on file menu and locate the drive

2) Click on save

3) In the file name box, type a new name for the document
4) Click Save.

Saving a document on a different folder (e.g. Flash Drive)


Go to file and click save as

1) In the file name box, you may type a new name or use the current file name
2) Go to save in box and click on another folder name eg(E)
3) Click Save

CLOSING YOUR DOCUMENT


Click on file menu bar

1) Select Close

OPENING A RECENT DOCUMENT (SAVED DOCUMENT)


1) Click on File on the menu bar
2) Click Open
3) In the file name BOX, type the name of the file or used the scroll bar to search for the file

4) Click Open

SPELLING AND GRAMMER


The Spelling and grammar is used to detect and correct spelling mistake in a document, you can
ignore, replace and change any error detected. You can get this under review.

Procedure

1) Choose review on the menu bar


2) Select Spelling and Grammar (or press F7)
3) You can now follow the instruction that follow i.e ignore, replace.
4) Click on Cancel/Close to go out of the dialog box.
