Competency-Based Lesson Plan: Introduction to Networking and

Cybersecurity
Subject: ICT

Class Level: Form 5

Duration: 90 minutes

Competency: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to set up a simple network
and apply basic cybersecurity measures to protect it.

1. General Learning Objective

- Understand basic networking concepts and cybersecurity principles.

- Demonstrate the ability to set up a simple network and secure it against threats.

2. Specific Learning Objectives (SLOs)

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. Define basic networking concepts (e.g., LAN, WAN, IP address, router, switch).

2. Explain cybersecurity threats (e.g., phishing, malware, hacking).

3. Set up a simple local area network (LAN) with at least two devices.

4. Apply basic security measures such as setting strong passwords and enabling a firewall.

3. Teaching and Learning Resources

Materials: Laptops, routers, Ethernet cables, network simulation software (e.g., Cisco
Packet Tracer).

Digital Tools: Online cybersecurity awareness videos, interactive quizzes.

4. Teaching and Learning Activities
