Centre: ALLER

Round One : Time to learn !

Read the mini lesson sheet [“Aller” for the French version and
“Aller –English” for the English version] and write a few of your
own examples using the chart and à la, au, and aux (pay
attention to when you use each one!).

Once you are finished reading and creating a few examples,

please fill out the following exit ticket (either upload it to the
assignment or write it on a separate sheet of paper if in person):
1. Nom et Date [Name and Date]
2. Qu’est-ce que tu as appris ? [What did you learn ?]
3. Est-ce que tu as des questions ? Décris-les ici. [Do you have any
questions ? Describe them here]

Round Two : Game time !

Game one : La boîte du pain (the bread box)
On a piece of paper, draw a 9 by 8 grid and add in the subjects on one side
like below:

Je
Tu
Il
Elle
Nous
Vous
Ils
Elles

Next, with a partner or a group of 3 decide on the same 7 locations to write

in the top 7 squares after ‘aller’. Pay attention to if the location is masculine
(au), feminine (à la), or plural/going to multiple of the same place
(aux) when choosing the locations – please see the chart on the lesson sheet
if you need help remembering when to use each one! (If you want more of a
challenge, include more columns and more locations verbs!) Do not
conjugate aller just yet. Example:

Aller à Aller Aller au Aller à Aller aux Aller Aller

la aux supermarc l’hôpita restaurant au aux
banqu parcs hé l s magasi écoles
e n
Je
Tu
Il
Elle
Nous
Vous
Ils
Elles
Next draw (or highlight in a particular colour and label if using a google
docs/word table) one of each of the following bread types on your grid:

 Un baguette (a baguette) = takes up 5 spaces

 Une miche de pain (a loaf of bread) = takes up 4 spaces

 Trois roulés à la cannelle (three cinanmon rolls) = take up 3 spaces

 Un sandwich (a sandwich) = takes up 2 spaces

Once you have all of your bread on your grid, it’s time to play and eat your
opponent(s) bread! Take turns trying to get a successful bite by conjugating
your aller verb according to one of the subjects and using one of the
locations you have written down afterwards. Write down your list of
phrases and submit it to Miss Field in the assignment page. You can
upload a document or a photo of your piece of paper.

Look at this example conversation:

-“Elle va aux écoles?” (They have chosen « Elle » from the column
at the side, and « Aller aux écoles » from the row at the top)
-“Manque! [miss, pronounced as ‘mon-k’ and used if the attack misses your
bread] Ils vont à la l’hôpital?” (They have chosen « Ils » from the
column at the side, and « Aller à l’hôpital » from the row at the top)

-“Mangé ! [eaten, pronounced as ‘mon-jay’ and used if the attack hits your
bread] Ma mince de pain est mangé! [my bread loaf is eaten!]”

Keep playing until one of the player’s bread is all eaten!

[NB: ‘au’ and ‘aux’ are both pronounced as ‘o’ and ‘à la’ is
pronounced as ‘a la’]

Round Three : Practice your skills !

To practice your conjugation and translation skills involving aller, look on the
aller sheet and complete parts A and B.

Finished? Submit a photo of your answers, screenshot of your

document/slides or your document/slides to the assignment page for this
centre.

Turned in your finished questions? Check your answers using the answer
sheet provided. If you have any questions, please let Miss Field know!
**Remember, checking the answers before trying to figure out the
answers for yourself is not learning! If you make a mistake, learn
from it! Learning takes time and effort!**

Checked your answers already? Can you create some sentences of your own
using the subjects and aller yourself?

Round Four : Show me what you’ve learned !

Read the instructions for your mini-assignment below. Submit
your sentences in a doc or google slides in the assignment page
for this centre [you should have submitted your round 1 exit ticket, at
least 1 game proof, and your practice answers by this point].

Create your own sentences using aller and à la, au, and aux! Please
submit your written sentences to the assignment page for this
centre as mentioned earlier.

Assignment criteria:
 Create at least 3 sentences with each sentence containing at least 1
correct conjugation of aller, and at least 1 correct use of à la, au or aux
 Each sentence needs to have a different location in it
 Spelling needs to be correct
 Sentences need to make sense
 The à la, au or aux needs to be used correctly with your location
o Unsure of when to use each one? Review the chart on the aller sheet!
