Computer Systems Servicing Overview

This course is designed to develop, enhance the knowledge, skills, & attitudes of a
Computer Systems Service Technician, in accordance with industry standards. It
covers the basic and common competencies in addition to the core competencies.

CSS Core Competencies


1. Installing and configuring computer systems
2. Setting up computer networks
3. Setting up computer servers
4. Maintaining and repairing computer systems and Network

Career Opportunities in CSS

 Computer technician– install, maintain and repair computer systems and


equipment.

 IT Technical Support Officer– monitors and maintains the computer


systems and networks of an organization. They may install and configure
computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults and solve
technical and applications problems

 Technical support representative– answers questions from computer users


and solves problems with the installation or operation of software.

 Computer Hardware Specialist– set up equipment for employee use,


performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and
appropriate software
