Problem Sheet-4 - ME-A

The document is a problem sheet for the Complex Analysis and Differential Equations course at the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli. It includes various tasks such as forming partial differential equations (PDEs) by eliminating arbitrary constants and functions, solving PDEs through direct integration, Lagrange's linear PDEs, first-order non-linear PDEs, and using the method of separation of variables. The problems are structured for I B.Tech ME-A Semester-II students for the January 2025 session.

1. z = ax + by + a2 + b2

2. z = (x2 + a2 )(y 2 + b2 )

3. (x − a)2 + (y − b)2 = z 2
√ √
4. 1 + a2 log(z + z 2 − 1) = x + ay + b

Form the PDE by eliminating the arbitrary function f from the following:

1. z = eay f (x + by)

2 1
2. z = y + 2f + log y
x
3. f (z − xy, x2 + y 2 ) = 0

4. xyz = f (x + y + z)

x−y
5. f , xy + yz + zx = 0
y−z
