The protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the

Philippines are governed by the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines

(Republic Act No. 8293). Here are some suggestions for a fun exercise that
will aid participants or students in comprehending the main points of this
law:

Activity: "IP Explorers: Discovering Intellectual Property

Rights"
Objective:
By examining the many forms of intellectual property (IP) and their
importance, participants will be better able to comprehend the main ideas
and practical applications of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines
(R.A. 8293).

Materials Needed:
• Synopses or illustrations of R.A. 8293
• Sample products (such as logos, audio samples, and product designs) that
represent different IP categories
• Case studies or hypothetical situations for group exercises
• Worksheets for documenting findings and fixes

Steps in the Activity:

1. Initial Conversation (10 minutes)

Describe the categories of IP that are protected by the law:

 Copyright: Protects works of literature, art, and music.

 Trademark: Safeguards names and logos used to identify brands.
 Patent: Provides protection for original ideas and methods
 Trade Secret: Preserves private company data

In order to protect these rights, emphasize the function of the Intellectual

Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

2. IP Investigators: A Group Challenge (30 minutes)
Configuration:

 Create small groups of three to five people each.

 Give each group a case study about a potential intellectual property
challenge, like copyright infringement, trademark disputes, or patent
problems.

3. Sharing Insights (15 minutes)

 Teams present their findings, including the type of IP involved and their
recommended resolutions.

 Encourage other teams to provide feedback or additional insights.

4. Reflect and Discuss (10 minutes)

Guide a discussion with these questions:

 Why is it important to protect intellectual property?

 What challenges are common when enforcing IP rights?
 How can people contribute to upholding respect for IP laws in daily life?

Extended Activity (Optional):

Participants design a public awareness campaign (e.g., posters or social

media content) to educate others on respecting IP rights.

Expected Outcomes:

Participants will develop a deeper understanding of intellectual property

concepts, learn the importance of IP protection, and gain insights into
practical applications of R.A. 8293 in resolving real-world challenges.
Activity: "Architects' Code: Tackling Ethical Challenges"
Objective:
to examine real-world problems and cooperative problem-solving in order to
enhance participants' comprehension of ethical obligations and proper
professional conduct in the architectural field.

Materials Needed:
• Architects' official code of ethics or guidelines (such as those issued by the
United Architects of the Philippines)
• Scenario cards that highlight typical moral dilemmas in design
Worksheets for group discussions
• Extra presentation resources are available

Activity Steps:
1. Comprehending Architecture Ethics (15 minutes)

Explain the importance of moral standards in the practice of architecture,

emphasizing:

 Preserving client confidentiality and trust

 Maintaining environmental responsibility and public safety
 Promoting integrity and fair competition
 Draw attention to the fundamental moral principles set out by trade
associations.

2. Activity for Solving Group Problems (30 minutes)

Directions: Assign participants to small groups of three to five people.

 Give each group a scenario card that illustrates an ethical dilemma,

like this:
A customer requests less expensive but risky building supplies.
It is tempting for a company to steal a competitor's design.
An architect is unethically offered incentives to speed up project
approvals.
 Task:
Determine the hazards and ethical issues at play.
-Come up with ideas for ethically sound solutions to the problem.
-Write important ideas and solutions on the worksheet.

3. Solutions Presentation (20 minutes)

 Groups discuss their situation, moral dilemmas, and suggested course

of action.
 To widen viewpoints, invite inquiries and conversations from different
teams.

4. Reflection Discussion (10 minutes)

Facilitate a conversation using guiding questions:

 How do ethical decisions impact an architect’s credibility and the

industry?
 What are common obstacles to maintaining ethical conduct?
 How can architects lead efforts to uphold ethical standards in their
practices?

Optional Extension:

In addition, participants are welcome to create visual materials (including

but not limited to posters) that emphasize fundamental ethical tenets for
architects.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will gain insight into the ethical considerations architects face
and learn practical approaches to making ethical decisions while maintaining
professionalism.
