Micro-Project Proposal

Title of Micro-Project:- STUDENT MANEGEMENT SYSTEM

Aims/Benefits of the Micro-Project

The Student Management System (SMS) aims to streamline administrative processes in educational
institutions. By centralizing student information, it enhances data accessibility and accuracy, facilitating
efficient tracking of student records, attendance, grades, and performance. The system improves
communication between students, faculty, and administration, fostering a more organized learning
environment and supporting informed decision-making. Overall, it promotes better educational outcomes
and resource management.

Course Outcomes Addressed

a) Understanding Database Design: Students will learn to design and implement a relational
database schema that effectively supports student data management.

b) Data Retrieval and Manipulation: Students will develop skills in writing SQL queries to
retrieve, update, and manage student information.

c) User Interface Development: Students will gain experience in creating user-friendly interfaces
that enhance user interaction with the system.

d) System Integration: Students will learn to integrate various components of the SMS, including front-end
and back-end functionalities.

1.0 Proposed Methodology

 Requirement Analysis: Gather requirements through discussions with stakeholders, including

students, faculty, and administrative staff. This phase will identify the necessary features such as
student enrollment, attendance tracking, grade management, and reporting capabilities.
 Database Design: Design a relational database schema to structure the data efficiently. This will
involve defining tables for students, courses, faculty, and grades, ensuring normalization to minimize
redundancy.
 System Development: Utilize programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and frameworks
(e.g., Django, Spring) to develop the application. This phase will include building the backend
for data processing and the frontend for user interaction.
 Testing: Conduct thorough testing, including unit tests and user acceptance tests, to ensure
functionality and identify any issues.
 Deployment: Implement the system in a real-world environment, ensuring it integrates smoothly
with existing infrastructure.

10.0 Program

Create a new database

CREATE DATABASE StudentManagement;
-- Use the created database
USE StudentManagement;
-- Create a students table
CREATE TABLE students ( id INT AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,
name VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,
age INT NOT NULL,
course VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL
);

-- Insert a new student record

INSERT INTO students (name, age, course) VALUES ('John Doe', 20, 'Computer Science');
-- Select all students
SELECT * FROM students;
-- Update a student's information
UPDATE students
SET name = 'John Smith', age = 21, course = 'Software Engineering'
WHERE id = 1; -- Assuming 1 is the ID of the student to update
- Delete a student record
DELETE FROM students WHERE id = 1; -- Replace 1 with the actual ID
