Addition

Remember= Place value ones tens and hundred building numbers up to 200.

 This is one stamp


One stamp means ones

 This is ten stamp


10 stamp means tens

 Place value expanded form

146 → 1 hundreds + 4 tens + 6 ones

Comparing numbers

“ = ” this is the equal to sign

 When the numbers equal both sides


We use = sign

Example : -20 = 20

 > this is greater than


- The open side is toward the bigger number
- It is also called the more than sign
Example 58 > 28
 The closed side between two number is called the less than sign
This is < sign
Example 68 < 86

Even Numbers

 A number which is divisible by two and generates a remainder of zero is


called an even number
 O zero is an even number
Even numbers for example : - 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
12 14 16 18 20
 An odd number is a number which is not divisible by two
 Even number 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 all the numbers ending with 1,
3, 5, 7 & 9 are odd numbers

For example such as 11, 13, 15, 17 ,19 are odd


Addition with regrouping to ten

We use regrouping in addition when the sum of two digits in the place value
column is greater nine and tens to add regrouping is referred as the carrying
forward addition and borrowing in satraction problems.

Step one first add the ones step two then add the tens

Double Addition mean add the same number

Near Double is Add one

Subtraction

 Subtract means to take away from a group or a number of things.


 The result of subtraction is called a difference
 when the number of equal value are subtracted from each the result
always zero

Example 20 – 20 =0

The hundred grid

 a hundreds chart is a 10, by 10 grid with the numbers one to one


hundred printed in the squares

 Ten more then or ten less than
 Explain that because the tens digit only changes by one we can find 100
more or 10 less by mentally adding or subtracting
 Regrouping in subtraction is a process. Exchanging one tens in to the
one.

We use regrouping in subtraction when the minuend is smaller than the


subtract.
