A. Overview
The imagePRESS C7000VPe is a Canon Certified Remanufactured
imagePRESS based on the imagePRESS C7000VP/C6000VP/C6000. The
remanufacturing process is comprehensive. A team of Canon trained
technicians thoroughly inspected, cleaned and remanufactured the
imagePRESS products. The imagePRESS C7000VPe remanufacturing
process adds value by providing new service parts to improve the quality to
that of the imagePRESS C7010VP.
This remanufactured model has been assigned a new model name and serial
number and has had its meter reset. Since this is not a brand new machine
but remanufactured, extensive testing must be performed to confirm the
machine quality and performance. Therefore, the remanufactured
imagePRESS C7000VPe 101 meter may read between 3,000 and 7,500
prints/copies. This model contains new and refurbished parts and fully meets
the original equipment manufacturer’s quality and operational standards for
this Factory Certified machine.
The POD Deck-A1 and Saddle Finisher-AB2 have been remanufactured into
the POD Deck-A1e, and Saddle Finisher-AB2e respectively and fully meets
the original equipment manufacturer’s quality and operational standards. In
addition, there is a new imagePRESS Server A2200e, a custom
imagePRESS Server configured specifically for the imagePRESS C7000VPe.
These Remanufactured accessories along with the imagePRESS Server are
available with the imagePRESS C7000VPe as standard items.
1. imagePRESS C7010VP Series features applied to the imagePRESS
C7000 VPe:
Reliability:
o Parts Life improvement (using the imagePRESS C7010VP
service parts)
o The maximum monthly volume was increased to 1,000,000
Letter sized impressions per month
Image Quality and Consistency:
o New Airflow technology
o Density Stabilization Technology & Hydro Thermal Sensor
Productivity:
o Faster printing speeds for jobs containing duplex and simplex
sheets
o Faster printing speeds for jobs containing multiple types of
media
o Faster printing speeds for jobs containing tabloid sheets
Usability:
o The mechanical adjustment for paper skew can be made from
the User Interface.
o Auto-ejection Feature will clear media from a jam to collect in
either the POD Escape tray, Duplex Paper Path or the Saddle
Finisher Tray
2. The Remanufacturing Process
1. All safety related parts are replaced (power cords, breakers, fuses,
thermostats and protective switches).
2. Pertinent engineering changes are implemented (updated parts,
firmware, etc.).
3. Hard disk drives are replaced or erased and reimaged.
4. Each module is inspected for damage during the remanufacturing
process. Subassemblies and parts are replaced as needed.
5. All paper path areas are thoroughly cleaned, and evaluated during
the reassembly process.
6. Almost all bearings are replaced in the Main Station, Finisher and
Sub Station. All bearings are replaced in the fixing units.
7. The fixing units are completely disassembled, cleaned and tested.
The fixing unit tests are the same as for a newly manufactured
fixing unit: a belt alignment test, pressure spring force test and a
complete function check test (checks sensors, web advancement,
temperature, refresh and cleaning roller engagement and belt
timing).
8. All of the reworked major sub-assemblies are inspected by the
operator performing the rework as well as an inspector.
9. After the entire module has been reworked and re-assembled it is
inspected as an assembly.
This model brings the following capabilities to commercial printers, In-plant
Central Reproduction Department (CRD) facilities, quick printers and digital
printers:
A Segment 5 device that prints and copies Color and Black & White
(B&W) sheets at speeds of up to 70 ppm (pages-per-minute).
Prints images at up to 1200 dpi (dots per inch) x 1200dpi with 256
halftones resolution.
A maximum paper size of 13" x 19.2” is supported. Standard paper
sources two paper trays with a capacity of up to 1,000-sheets each.
Adding the optional POD Deck-A1e, the device can hold a maximum of
6,000-sheets.
Canon’s oil-free V Toner utilizes exceptionally small particles containing
micro-dispersed wax so toner fixes evenly and lays flat, resulting in
sharp, vivid, dense images and a smooth finish that looks and feels like
offset printing.

G. Service Materials
The materials required for the imagePRESS C7000VPe Training Program are
listed in the table below.
IMPORTANT
We recommend an additional standard 120 V/15 A outlet for service
tools, such as a laptop computer or vacuum that may be used when
servicing or configuring the machine.
Use only dedicated and properly grounded outlets for the main unit and
imagePRESS Server Controllers. It is also strongly suggested to use
dedicated and properly grounded outlets for each optional accessory. Do
not use extension cords. The ground connection serves to provide the
internal electronics with a reference voltage. Faulty or poor ground
sources will cause this reference voltage to fall into a range that no
longer serves as a reliable reference voltage. The internal logic and
programming of the imagePRESS C7000VPe machines will not perform
reliably because there is an insufficient difference between the internal
operating signal voltages and the poor ground reference signal. A
qualified electrician can measure and provide the ground source that the
imagePRESS C7000VPe machines or any computer controlled office
equipment requires.
Before installation, confirm that all necessary receptacles are available.
Phase converters and step down transformers are not supported

IMPORTANT
Keep the back of the machine at least 31.5” (800 mm) away from a wall.
Make sure that approximately 19 3/4” (500 mm) of space is left around
the front, left, and right sides of the machine for the proper servicing of
the equipment.
The floor must be level (with no bows) and flat for the stabilization and
support of the machine.
The weight of the machine is primarily supported by the adjusters and
wheels. A floor plate is recommended to distribute the weight when
installing the machine on all types of flooring including carpet or wood
flooring.
Elevators used to transport the machine must have a minimum depth of
approximately 56”. Additional room may be needed to navigate turns.
The machine should not be moved once it is in place.
Do not place anything around the machine. Especially, do not place
anything around the breaker, as doing so may prevent access to the
breaker in an emergency, possibly resulting in personal injury.

C1, Booklet Trimmer-D1, Two Knife Booklet Trimmer-A1, and Professional Puncher with Integration Unit-A1
attached
Setup time varies due to many factors, most of which the installation technician
has little control over. Some obstacles may include:
Forklift availability
ilability and itits operator
Narrow hallways or a need to remove doors to enter rooms
Uneven or damaged floors making leveling equipment difficult and time
consuming
With the above-mentioned
mentioned obstacles considered, an installation of Main Unit, POD
Deck and Saddle Finisher can take longer than the 190 0 minutes shown above and can
take between four (4) to six (6) hours depending on conditions at the site of
installation.. If accessories are included in the installation, the following estimated times
must be added.

E. imageWARE Remote
imageWARE Remote is a remote support service that collects page counter,
service parts counter, and alarm, jam, and error code data from Canon
devices with the eRDS (Embedded Remote Diagnostic System).
The eRDS enables the imagePRESS C67000VPe to transmit counter and
error code data to a UGW (Universal Gateway) database that the dealership
can retrieve via a Web portal. imageWARE Remote provides the following
benefits to customers:
The ability to communicate meter counter information to the UGW
database for review by your dealership.
The ability to communicate device alarm, jam, and error alert
notifications to the UGW database. The notification settings can be
adjusted by your dealership within the UGW.
Anticipate part requirements
Investigate machine issues before visiting the customer.
The optional Remote Diagnostic System11 (RDS) Plug-in to the imageWARE
Enterprise Management Console retrieves meter readings select service
alerts and supplies usage data from up to 1,000 Canon printers, Canon
multifunction devices and third-party devices utilizing the standard printer
Management Information Base (MIB). The RDS Plug-in transmits the
collected data directly to the UGW database. In addition, the plug-in can
register devices to the UGW database.
11 The imageWARE Enterprise Management Console and Remote Diagnostic System Plug-in are available at no charge. For
more information, refer to the Technical Publication TP10 360 available from the Canon e-Support Center Website.
12 An SE (System Engineer) is a professional title often used by hardware vendors for individuals who perform systems related
tasks, such as analysis, design, and programming. System Engineers are also often involved in pre-sales activities.
IMPORTANT
If an HDD must be replaced due to a fault, all MEAP application files stored
on it will be lost, requiring all applications and their license files to be
reinstalled, in addition to replacing the HDD. Refer to the imagePRESS
C7010VP/C6010VP/C6010 Service Manual for further details.

O. Consumable Parts
Consumable parts are defined as those parts having a limited life that will be
reached during a customer’s specific machine operation, and should then be
replaced as needed. Examples of consumable parts include, but are not
limited to, feed rollers and cleaner blades.
An estimated consumable parts list is provided in the table below to assist in
the initial parts/supplies planning. A consumable part’s life expectancy is
directly related to usage factors, such as paper size, paper quality,
environment, usage application, and machine maintenance. Therefore,
consumable parts do not have a warranty, and Canon USA cannot guarantee
a minimum life.
Notes:
All consumable parts shown in the table below are for reference
purposes only, and are subject to change without notice.

Q. Periodic Maintenance
Some parts of the machine must be checked and/or replaced on a periodic
basis to ensure a specific level of machine performance. These parts are
likely to affect the performance once they fail even in the absence of external
change or damage. Whenever possible, plan their replacement so that it will
coincide with a scheduled service visit.
Note: All periodic maintenance shown in the below table is for reference
purposes only and are subject to change without notice. Refer to the

R. Soft Counter
The imagePRESS C7000VPe uses soft counters to track its functional copy
use. The control panel can display up to eight (8) counters on the counter
status check screen (when the counter check key button on the control panel
is pressed). By default, the imagePRESS C7000VPe displays six (6)
counters on the counter status check screen.
The Table below indicates the default counter configurations of the
imagePRESS C7000VPe on the counter status check screen.
S. MEAP Counter
The MEAP application counter counts the number of prints and scans made
per MEAP application. You can view the MEAP counter by logging on to the
MEAP SMS (Service Management Service) Application/License Information
page via a Web browser. (The computer you are using must be connected to
the machine and network.) You can also view the MEAP counter from the
MEAP device. Press the Counter Check button on the device’s control panel,
and then press the MEAP Counter key on the touch panel display.
There are three types of MEAP applications:
Applet: Contains a user interface on the touch panel display of the
device. Up to nine applet tabs can be displayed on the touch panel
display of the device.
Servlet: Contains a remote, programmable user interface for the
application via a Web browser.
Esplet: The application does not contain a user interface.
Each MEAP application has its own counter. The number of applications that
can be installed on an imagePRESS C7000VPe is directly related to the
number of counters available.
For detailed warranty information, please refer to the Canon IPQ-2 Drum
Limited Warranty, page 80.
Note: If the IPQ-2 Drum Limited Warranty conditions accompanied with
the Drum is not 420,000 prints or copies for the prorated credit as
indicated above, then refer to the Limited Warranty located in the
Appendix of this Service Guide.
3. Flat-Rate Program
The Flat-Rate Program provides a flat-rate credit to Canon USA’s
full-line dealers as compensation for warranty expenses that they may
incur. Dealers who purchase an imagePRESS C7000VPe device will
receive a Flat-Rate Program credit during the month following their
purchase. This credit covers the dealer’s cost of defective parts and
drums with a dealer cost under $300.00 that have been replaced during
the term of the end-user’s Limited Warranty.
The Flat-Rate Program enables the dealer to return the more expensive
machine parts to receive reimbursement for in-warranty part failures.
The flat-rate credit is a percentage of your eligible machine purchases,
drums, and accessories. Flat-rate credits are posted monthly in the CNA
(Canon Network Access) section of Canon USA’s ISG Central Web site.
Refer to the Online Limited Warranty Credit Inquiry section for more
information.
Original defective parts with a dealer cost over $300.00 that have been
replaced during the term of the end-user warranty are eligible to receive
reimbursement credit through the e-Tag process. Parts that are listed on
the Canon USA Repairable Parts List should be sent to an APRF
(Authorized Parts Repair Facility) to be repaired at no charge.
To request a part reimbursement credit, complete the e-Tag warranty
claim form in the Warranty section of the e-Support Center Web site at
http://www.support.cusa.canon.com. Refer to the e-Tag section of this
Service Guide for further details and instructions.
