If required by the Consultant or Client, the Contractor shall prepare, for approval,
fully dimensioned shop drawings from details supplied by the Consultant and from
his own site survey. Key numbers of each panel or tile shall be shown together
with setting out points, proposed panel and tile sizes, joint positions and other
working details including details of metal anchorages, pointing, expansion and
compression joints and corner and edge termination.
Within three weeks after the contract is finalized the Contractor shall submit
samples of all items as specified. Minimum sample size shall be 300x300mm
minimum and at least two samples shall be submitted for each item. For any item
which is subject to a relatively wide range of variation of natural characteristics the
Contractor shall submit a minimum of three samples to show the full range of
variation which can be expected in the final installations. Samples shall have
finishes as specified and once approved shall constitute the guidelines for
completion and final approval of the work. The Contractor shall not proceed with
any final work without the Consultant’s approval of the samples.
1.05 Accuracy
Marble, limestone and granite tile shall be fully dried within an enclosed,
dehumidified room. After the stone are cut into size, tile surface to be dusted with
a clean, dry white cotton cloth and then fully soaked in an approved impregnator
equivalent to “Proof 10S solvent based impregnator” for not less than 2 minutes
within the factory and allowed to fully dry in room condition for 24 hours or as per
manufacturers recommendation, whichever is greater. After the slab delivery to
site and ready for laying, it should be dry laid over each installation area for
inspection by the Architect. Once approved it should be bedded solid with screeds
equivalent to “Mapei” or Finish with perfectly level and even surfaces and with joints
between slabs not exceeding 2.5mm thick.
A pull-out test needs to be carried out to test the adhesion strength of the sealant
test stone with cement sand. Pull out test method statement shall be submitted to
the architect/designer for approval. Location of the pull-out test shall be selected
by architect/designer.
All marble, granite and stone shall be delivered to site, factory finished, unless
specified or otherwise approved by the Consultant.
