The information in the table below may assist you in completing this lab. The task
sections below provide details on the use of this information.
1. Click on the PC1 icon from the topology page to access the Windows 10 client.
When accessing the system, if a black screen with the date/time is present, click
anywhere within the black screen for the login prompt to appear.
2. In the System utility, click Advanced system settings from the left pane.
3. The System Properties window opens. Select the Advanced tab and click on the
Settings button found in the Performance section.
What is the total paging file size listed for the Virtual memory?

1. Click Change in the Virtual memory section to open the Virtual Memory window.
2. Remove the check mark from Automatically manage paging file size for all
drives check box.

3. Select the X: drive from the Drive list. Select the radio button for Custom size:
below the Drive table.
What is the Recommended value for Total paging file size for all drives?
________________________________________________________________________
4. Using the Customer size field, enter a number in the Maximum size (MB): field
that is larger than the Minimum allowed size, but smaller than the
Recommended size. For this example, a value of 1100MB is used.
5. Enter a number in the Initial size (MB) field that is less than or equal to the
Maximum size. For this example, a value of 500MB is used.
6. Click Set.
7. Select the C: drive from the Drive list. Fill the No paging file radio button and
click Set.
8. A System Properties warning message displays. Analyze the message and click
Yes to continue.
The (X:) drive should be the only drive with a page file set. The other drive (C:) should
display a Page File Size (MB) of None.

Why would it be beneficial to move the Virtual memory to a different physical disk than
the (C:) drive?
