Introduction

The Windows 10 Administration Lab Series is designed to assist you in learning


fundamental skills, based on the administration and management of a Windows 10
client.

Objective

This lab provides instruction on using the Device Manager on a Windows 10 client
machine.

1 Access the System Window on PC1

1.1 Access PC1

1. Click on the PC1 icon from the topology page to access the Windows 10 client.

2. Login to the system as student with the password of Train1ng$.

When accessing the system, if a black screen with the date/time is present, click
anywhere within the black screen for the login prompt to appear.

1.2 Access the Device Manager

1. Right-click on the Start Menu and select System.

2. In the System utility, click Device Manager located in the left pane.

3. The Device Manager window opens and displays the devices installed on this
machine. Click on the arrow next to Monitors to expand the category. The
installed monitors will be displayed.

4. Right click on Generic Non-PnP Monitor and select Properties.

2 Locate the VMware Pointing Device

1. Browse through the Device Manager and locate the VMware Pointing Device
entry under the Mice and other pointing devices tree. Right-click on VMware
Pointing Device and select Properties.

2. Navigate to the Driver tab to view detailed device driver information.

3. Close all remaining open windows.
