B.E. 8th Semester (Civil)
Subject: ANALYSIS OF FRAMED STRUCTURES
Time: 2 Hrs. Maximum Marks: 50

Note: Attempt questions worth 50 marks. Choices are clearly marked. Question No. 1 is
compulsory and attempt any three from rest. Part (a) of each question carries 2 ½
Marks, Part (b) and (c) of each question carries 10 marks each.
Q. 1. (a) When it is suitable to use slope deflection method for
analysis of structure.
(b) A continuous beam ABCD is fixed at ends A and D, and
is loaded as shown in figure. Spans AB, BC and CD have
of same moments of inertia and same material.

(b) Assemble equations of equilibrium for the spring system
shown in figure by direct approach. Show that
minimization of potential energy also yields same result.

(c) Determine the displacements of nodes 1 and 2 in the
spring system shown in figure. Use minimum of potential
energy principle to assemble equations of equilibrium.


