Assessment Question

Question 1: HRD, Capacity Building, and Performance Management

Critically evaluate the role of Human Resource Development (HRD) and capacity building in
enhancing both individual and organizational performance. Using relevant HRD theories and
frameworks, discuss how strategic HRD initiatives can address skill gaps, foster employee
engagement, and support capacity building in a global organization. Propose practical
recommendations and support your arguments with examples and case studies.

The word count for this assignment is 2500 words with a +10% margin.

Word Count Penalties

The following penalties will be applied, if submissions go beyond 2500 words :


+10% - no penalty
>10% - 20% = 5% penalty
>20% - 30% = 10% penalty
>30% - 40% = 15% penalty
>40% - 50% = 20% penalty
>50% = maximum mark of 50%

Determining the word count : The permissible word count will primarily originate from
content pages (i.e. the main body of the assignment and exclude title pages/cover sheet,
appendices, bibliographies, reference lists, diagrams/graphs/images/tables.

Presentation style
1. This assignment must follow at least basic university presentation guidelines. Use at
least 1.5 line spacing, size 12 and Ariel font.
2. This assessment is NOT a report and therefore does NOT require an Executive
Summary, nor a Contents/Index page.
3. It is advised that students avail of the services of Turnitin prior to final submission, to
check for similarity and any potential plagiarism issues.
4. It is advised that students avail of the services of Studiosity prior to final submission.
5. All assignments must display the final word count, on the cover page (excluding all
references /bibliography lists, appendices).

1. Assessment

This question is principally based upon learning from week 1 to Week 11, although it
also draws upon learning from across the whole HRM7505-B module

 To obtain a Distinction grade (70 - 100 %) students must present


clear/fundamental answer to the question. Demonstrating their essential
understanding of the nature of topic selected.

To do so, students should:

 Excellent and coherent structure, thoughts and ideas clearly expressed, and fluent
academic writing.
 Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the relevant theories
 Demonstrate critical analysis and coverage of the relevant issues
 Evaluate the issues raised
 Synchronise both theory and practice
 Demonstrate methodological understanding for the research paper
 Provide critical example/s to support your main argument/s

 To obtain a Merit grade (60 - 69 %) students must present clear/fundamental


answer to the question. Demonstrating their essential understanding of the nature
of the topic selected;

To do so, students should:


 Very good, careful and logical structure with good spelling, grammar, and
academic writing style
 Very clear and appropriate demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the
relevant theory and research to address the topic

 Obvious and subtle issues dealt with very good application of theory
 Good evaluation, critical judgement and problem solving
 Provide some good examples to support your main argument/s

 To obtain a Pass grade (40 - 59%) students must present satisfactory answer to
the question. Demonstrating a satisfactory understanding of the nature of the topic
selected.

To do so, students should;

 Satisfactory presentation and structure with a reasonable degree of coherence and


structure. Reasonable spelling and grammar. Some attempt at academic style.
 Reasonable demonstration of knowledge and understanding of the literature with
some consistency to academic reference
 Identifies obvious issues only, good application of theory.
 Reasonable evaluation, critical judgment and problem solving.
