Course Objective: The course is designed to give students the competence in use of basic computing techniques
including operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation graphics and databases. They will be taught
that how these techniques are integrated together and also the use of Web techniques provided by MS office.
Being students of the management program, this course will aim to give students the technical and management insight
needed to fulfill their roles in this age of information. To give students the understanding of the way office tools can be
used to bring in flexibility to the solutions of the problems that are frequently encountered in the working environment.
To manage and analyze the large amount of data in a business organization. To support managers in decision-making
process that can lead to maintain a competitive edge.
Course Objectives: The focus of the course will be to give students an in-depth understanding of why computers are
essential components in business, education and society. Introduce the fundamentals of computing devices and reinforce
computer vocabulary, particularly with respect to personal use of computer hardware and software, the Internet,
networking and mobile computing. Provide hands-on use of Microsoft Office 2013 applications Word, Excel, Access and
PowerPoint. Completion of the assignments will result in MS Office applications knowledge and skills.
Teaching Strategy: The course will consist of Lab assignments, Quizzes, Midterm and Final Exam. Students will be given
group project in which they will choose a firm and will create its database in MS.Access using database tools including
tables, queries, forms and reports while they will use MS.Excel to create a single large database on which different
Mathematical, Statistical, Financial, Text, Lookup and other functions taught in class will be used.
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Recognize when to use each of the Microsoft Office programs to create professional and academic documents.
2. Use Microsoft Office programs to create personal, academic and business documents following current
professional and/or industry standards.
