Lesson 2

This lesson focuses on understanding angles in polygons, including relationships between angle pairs such as complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles. Students will apply these concepts through problem-solving and a practical activity that involves designing a floor plan while calculating interior angles. The lesson emphasizes the importance of stable structures in both architecture and life principles.

Lesson 2: Angles in a Polygon

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to …

Acquisition:
Describe and explain the relationships between angle pairs (complementary, supplementary, linear pair,
vertical angles, adjacent angles) based on their measures.
Make Meaning:
Deduce the relationship between the exterior angle and the adjacent interior angle of a polygon.
Transfer:
Solve problems involving interior and exterior angles in practical applications, such as tiling patterns or
architecture.

Angle Pairs
Terms Illustrations
Two angles are supplementary if the If ∠ a and ∠ b are
sum of their measures is 180 ° . Each supplementary angles, then
angle is called a supplement of the m ∠ a+m ∠ b=180
other
Two angles are complementary if the If ∠ 1 and ∠ 2 are
sum of their measures is 90 ° . Each complementary angles, then
angle is called a complement of the m ∠ 1+ m∠ 2=90 °
other.

Adjacent angles are two coplanar ∠ BOC and ∠ COA are

angles that have a common side adjacent angles with common
between them but have no interior side OC .
points in common.

If two angles are adjacent and If ∠ DAC and ∠ CAB are

supplementary, then they are called adjacent and supplementary,
linear pair. then ∠ DAC and ∠ CAB form a
linear pair.

Design a Floor Plan

 Objective: Apply polygon angle concepts in architecture.
 Activity:
o You will design a simple house layout using different polygons (rectangles, triangles,
hexagons, etc.).
o You must calculate and justify the interior angles used in their design.

o Present your designs and explain how angles play a role in structure stability.

Remember this
Polygons with well-structured angles create stable shapes like a house built on a strong foundation. A life built on
God's Word is stable and unshakable, just as a strong polygon maintains its shape and structure.
