Method Statement for Gate Valve Installation for the FCU

(Lot C15D)
1. To inform the Suria Control Room to close the main chilled water pump.

2. Close the main valve (Return) for the chilled water pipe inside vacant lot and apply LOTO signage.

3. Set up protection around the work area.

4. Prepare a flexible hose with a clip, with one end near the work area and the other end at the water discharge
area.

5. Identify the chilled water supply/return piping network in the work area.

6. Identify the location and size of the pipe freezing bath/box.

7. Maintain a minimum distance of 6 inches from the freezing point to the cutting point as a buffer for vibration, if
possible.

8. Set up an A-type ladder for high-level work.

9. Ensure sufficient lighting is set up in the liquid nitrogen pipe freezing work area.

10. Thoroughly remove and clean the pipe surface of polyurethane insulation.

11. Install the pipe freezing bath/box.

12. Introduce liquid nitrogen into the thermal-insulated plastic bucket.

13. The entire section of the pipe freezing line should be fully filled with water before the freezing process to ensure
the ice block is fully formed in a cylindrical shape.

14. This process will take at least 30 minutes to 1 hour to form the water into an ice block.

15. The new valve should be 'spooled' and ready.

16. Upon the complete formation of temporary ice plugging, drain residual water via the union coupling section into
a plastic pail.

17. Once you confirm that the residual water is fully drained, proceed to remove the existing faulty valve.

18. Continuously feed liquid nitrogen into the pipe freezing bath/box at intervals of 5-10 minutes until all tasks are
completed.

19. Install the new valve and carry out a leak check on all threaded connections.

20. Tie-in the remaining piping works to the existing line.

21. Defrost the ice block using a hot air blower gun.

22. Test and commission the gate valve.

23. Opening the main valve for the chilled water pipe and removing the LOTO signage.
