Directions: Read this artistic skills and techniques to Contemporary art Creation.
This lesson will introduce you to your artistic skills which are already enhanced.
Your artistic skills used in creating arts
There are three techniques that are most relevant in contemporary art
today.
1. Minimalism
Minimalism seeks to take away what’s unnecessary and leaving only
what’s
essential. This is probably the most important part of contemporary art, as it
has informed so much of society.
2. Found Objects
Taking something that people view as useless, and then using it in a
unique way in order to make artwork as one of the most important movements
that currently exist in contemporary artwork. The idea is that things that we
often view as junk are actually more valuable than we think that they are.
3. Large-Scale
Art
It is more than just a painting that happens to be oversized. It is larger
than
life and massive enough to fill a room, command a space and dwarf everything
else that comes near it.
2. Land
Art
Land art is that which is made use from natural materials, that are
taken from the natural world, built or created in an outdoor setting, and which
makes some kind of comment or observation about the environment.
3.
Collage It is a picture with pieces stuck on surface: a picture made by
sticking
3
cloth, pieces of paper, photographs, and other objects onto a surface. It include
magazines and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paints, bits of colored or
handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, and other found objects
glued to a piece of paper or canvas
4
4. Décollage
Instead of an image being built up, it will take off some parts of
existing images. It is created by cutting, tearing away or otherwise removing
pieces of an original image.
5. Printmaking
It is an artistic process based on the principle of transferring images
from
a matrix onto another surface, most often paper or fabric.
6. Digital Art
Digital art is an artistic work or practice that uses digital technology
as part of the creative or presentation process. Since in 1970s, various names
have been used to describe the process, including computer art and multimedia
art.
7. Mixed Media
In visual art, mixed media is an artwork in which more
than one medium or material has been employed. Assemblages and collages
are two common examples of art using different media that will make use
of different materials including cloth, paper, wood and found objects.

2. Décollage
7
Example of decollage include cut-up technique. Similar technique is the
lacerated poster, a poster in which one has been place over another or others,
and
8
the top poster or posters have been ripped, revealing to a greater or lesser
degree the poster or posters underneath.
3. Graffiti
It is a form of visual communication, usually illegal, involving the
unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group. The common
image of graffiti is a stylistic symbol or phrase spray-painted on a wall by a
member of a street gang, some graffiti is not gang-related. It is an antisocial
behavior performed in order to gain attention or as a form of thrill seeking, but it
also can be understood as an expressive art form.
4. Land Art
Land art is that which is made use from natural materials: Stones, water,
gravel, fallen tree branches, leaves, feathers, shells and soil are the most
commonly used materials, but more unusual items like animal bones or skulls,
fur, ice or snow or animal tracks might also be used.

5. Digital Art
Digital Art falls into three basic categories:
A. Digital painting
C. Fractals
Fractals are specialized hand – held glass prism that adds artistic flare to
your images and video.
Fractal Filters are supplementary tools designed to provide photographers
(and videographers) with new techniques that can be used to shoot
anytime, anywhere.
