1) If x and y are both odd integers, which of the following numbers must be an even integer? (Even, Odd Integers)
(A) x2 + y -1 (B) xy + y2 (C) x + y + 1 (D)xy + 2 (E) None of these
Solution:

Note:
Addition
Even + Even = Even
Odd + Odd = Even
Even + Odd = Odd

Multiplication
Even*Even = Even
Even*Odd = Even
Odd * Odd = Odd

Ans: B
2) 3 and 5 are factors of F. From this information, we can conclude that (Factors, Multiples)
(A) 8 is a factor of F . (B) F is a multiple of 15
(C) F = 3 x 5 (D) 15 is a multiple of 15 (E) 3 and 5 are the only factors of F
Solution:
Note:
Factors
12= 1*12
= 2*6
= 3*4

Multiples
Multiples of 12 are,
12, 24, 36, 48, 60, … etc.

Ans: B
3) If n is an integer divisible by 6 but not by 4, then which of the following cannot but an integer? (Multiples)
a) n/2 b) n/3 c) n/6 d) n/10 e) n/12
Solution:

Multiples of 6= 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54… … etc.

Multiples of 4= 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52… … etc.

So, the value of N can be= 6, 18, 30, 42, 54 … … that are not common multiples of 4.

Answer: E
4) If (a+a+a)= (b+b+b+b) and (a+b)=7, then what is the value of (a2-b2)? (Exponent)
A. 0 B. 3 C. 4 D. 7 E. None of these
Solution:

Note:
Rule of Equality

Ans. D
5) (441+442+443) is divisible by (Divisibility Rule)
(A) 7 (B) 13 (C) 15 (D) 17 (E) None of these
Explanation:

441 +442 +443

= 441(1+4+42)
= 21x 441

Ans: A
6) What is the minimum number of apples that can be distributed among 4,6,9,15 having a surplus of two
apples each time? (LCM)
a)422 b)362 c)182 d)62 e)None of these
Explanation:

Ans: C
7) When x is divided by 13, the answer is y with a remainder of 3. When x is divided by 7, the answer is z with
a remainder of 3. If x, y, and z are all possible integers, what is the remainder of yz/13? (Remainder)
(A) 0 (B) 3 (C) 4 (D) 7 (E) None of these
Solution:
For 1st case, x=13y+3.......(i)
For 2nd case, x= 7z+3 ............(ii)

From (i) and (ii),

13y+3 = 7z+ 3
13y = 7z
As 7 and 13 are prime numbers, the only possible values for y and z would be 7 and 13
(If one is 7, the other would be 13).

So, yz/13= 7*13/13 = 7 (No remainder)

Ans: A
8) Find the smallest number which when divided by 18 and 24 will have a remainder of 4 and 10 respectively.
A. 56 B. 52 C. 58 D. 54 E. None of these (LCM)
Solution:
Let the number be x.
When x is divided by 18 will leave the remainder as 4. This means x +(18–4) = x+14 should be divisible by 18.
When x is divided by 24 will leave the remainder as 10. This means x+(24–10) = x+14 should be divisible by 24.

Find the LCM of 18 and 24

18 = 2*3*3
24 = 2*2*2*3
So, LCM is 2*2*2*3*3 = 72
So, x+14 = 72 or x = 72 - 14 = 58
9) When positive integer x is divided by positive integer y, the remainder is 9. If x/y = 96.12, what is
the value of y? (Remainder)
A. 96 B. 75 C. 48 D. 25 E. 12
Solution:
Note:
Remainder is removed
9
𝑦
= 0.12 by the decimal value.
9 12
→ 𝑦 = 100
→ y= 75

Explanation:

Ans: A
11) An army contingent of 616 members is to march behind an army band of 32 members in a parade. The two
groups are to march in the same number of columns. What is the maximum number of columns in which they
can march? (HCF)
A. 8 B. 16 C. 32 D. 26
Explanation:

Maximum number of columns হতি 616 এিং 32

এর গ. সা. গু.
616 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 7 x 11
32 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2

A. 399 B. 499 C. 599 D. 699 Ans: C
Explanation:
সমান্তর যারাটির ১ম িি, a = 2
সাযারর্ অন্তর, d =5-2=3
Note:
াহত , n ম িি = a + (n-1)d N-তম পদ = a + (n-1)d
.:. a200 িি = a + (200 – 1)d = 2 + (200 – 1)3
= 2+ (199 x 3) = 2 + 597 = 599

Ans: C.
13) If 4 students are seated on each bench, 3 benches remain vacant. But if 3 students are seated on each bench,
6 students remain standing. What is the number of students in that class? (Basic Operations)
A. 30 B. 55 C. 60 D. 45
Explanation:

Ans: 6
14) 11 - [3 + 5 of (13 - 2 x 6)] = ? (LCM)
A. 2 B. 3 C. 5 D. 10
Explanation:
11 - [3 + 5 of (13 – 2 x 6)] (BODMAS rule →) Note:
= 11 - [3 + 5 of (13 - 12)]
= 11 - [3 + 5 of 1] B= Bracket
= 11 - [3 + 5 x 1] O= Order
= 11 - [3 + 5] = 11 - 8 = 3 D= Division
M= Multiple
A= Addition

15) The integers 6, 9, 10, and 25 are each factors of the positive integer k. Which of the following integers
must also be a factor of k? (GMAT, Factor, Multiples, LCM)
i. 54 ii.60 iii.90
A) III only B) I and II only C) I and III only D) II and III only E) I, II, and III
Explanation:

Ans: A
16) A bank teller has $255 in $5 bills and $10 bills. If the number of $10 bills is greater than the number of $5 bills, what is
the maximum possible number of bills that the bank teller has? (GMAT, Basic Operations)
(A) 35 (B) 33 (C) 31 (D) 29 (E) 26
Explanation:
Let, The number of $10 bills = x; The number of $5 bills = y
So the equation is, 10x+5y=255
2x+y=51
x=(50+1−y)/2
x=25+(1−y)/2
For y = 1, x = 25 + 0 = 25
Other values of (x,y), that satisfy the equation are,
(x,y) = (25,1) ⇒ Sum = 26
(x,y) = (24,3) ⇒ Sum = 27
(x,y) = (23,5) ⇒ Sum = 28
(x,y) = (22,7) ⇒ Sum = 29
(x,y) = (21,9) ⇒ Sum = 30
(x,y) = (20,11) ⇒ Sum = 31
(x,y) = (19,13) ⇒ Sum = 32
(x,y) = (18,15) ⇒ Sum = 33
(x,y) = (17,17) ⇒ Sum = 34 ⇒ We can stop here, because x must be greater than y.

Maximum Sum = 18 + 15 = 33

Ans: B
17) What least number must be added to 1056, so the sum is divisible by 23? (GMAT, Divisibility Rule)

Explanation:

23) 1056 (45

Required number = (23 - 21) = 2.

Ans: A
18) The difference of the two numbers is 1365. On dividing the larger number by the smaller, we get 6 as the
quotient and the 15 as remainder. What is the smaller number? (GMAT, Basic Operations)
(A) 240 (B) 270 (C) 300 (D) 295 (E) None of these
Explanation:

Let the smaller number be x. Then larger number = (x + 1365).

x + 1365 = 6x + 15
5x = 1350
x = 270

Smaller number = 270.
