Generalization:
A polynomial in one variable is an
algebraic expression that can be
written in the form of anxn + an – 1xn – 1 +
an – 2xn – 2 + … + a1x + a0 where n is
non-negative integer, x is a variable
and an, an – 1, an – 2, … a1, a0 are any
real numbers.
The degree (n) of a polynomial is the
highest exponent of the variable (x).
The leading term is the term containing
the highest exponent in the polynomial.
The leading coefficient is the
coefficient of the leading term in the
polynomial.
The constant term is the term with zero
degree / exponent.
