Aptitude Training Modules for PGDM Students

Target Audience: Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Students


Objective: To prepare students for campus recruitment by enhancing their
quantitative & logical reasoning through a structured trimester-wise training
approach. Each trimester will focus on specific skills to progressively improve
their aptitude for various competitive exams and job placement
assessments.

Trimester 1: Foundations in Aptitude (Basic Concepts)

Objective:
To introduce students to the foundational concepts of quantitative aptitude,
logical reasoning, and verbal ability. This trimester focuses on building a
strong base in aptitude skills, ensuring all students understand the basics
required for recruitment assessments.

Quantitative Aptitude – Basics

Topics Covered:

 Number Systems:
o Natural numbers, integers, rational and irrational numbers, LCM,
HCF, divisibility rules.
 Percentage and Ratio:
o Basic percentage calculations, ratio & proportion, simple
applications.
 Averages:
o Concepts of mean, median, mode, weighted averages, and their
applications.
 Simple and Compound Interest:
o Basic interest calculations, difference between simple and
compound interest, applications in banking.

Logical Reasoning – Basics

Topics Covered:

 Series Completion:
o Numerical and alphabetical series completion.
 Coding-Decoding:
o Basic coding-decoding problems using alphabets and numbers.
 Blood Relations:
o Basic problems involving family trees and relationships.
 Seating Arrangements:
o Basic linear and circular seating arrangements.

Assessment & Practice:

 Weekly Practice Tests: Basic aptitude tests to monitor progress.


 End-of-Trimester Assessment: Comprehensive test covering all
topics from quantitative, logical reasoning, and verbal ability.

Trimester 2: Intermediate Aptitude Training

Objective:
To deepen students' understanding of more advanced topics in quantitative
aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal ability. Students will focus on applying
concepts to complex problems and preparing for the types of questions
asked in campus recruitment exams.

Quantitative Aptitude – Intermediate Level

 Time and Work:


o Problems based on work efficiency, workers and time, work and
wages.
 Time, Speed, and Distance:
o Concepts of relative speed, average speed, and problems on
boats and trains.
 Profit, Loss, and Discount:
o Advanced concepts on calculating profit margins, markups, and
discounts.
 Algebra and Simple Equations:
o Basics of algebraic expressions, linear equations, quadratic
equations.
Logical Reasoning – Intermediate Level

Topics Covered:

 Direction Sense:
o Advanced problems in determining directions and positions.
 Puzzles:
o Solving puzzles involving logical deduction.
 Syllogisms:
o Concepts of statements and conclusions, Venn diagrams for
syllogisms.
 Logical Sequence of Words:
o Arranging words or numbers logically to form meaningful
patterns.

Assessment & Practice:

 Mock Aptitude Tests: Intermediate-level questions similar to campus


recruitment exams.
 End-of-Trimester Assessment: Timed test with more complex
problems covering all sections.

Trimester 3: Advanced Aptitude and Placement Preparation

Objective:
To prepare students for the final campus recruitment process by refining
their aptitude skills and simulating the exact conditions of recruitment
exams. This trimester will focus on advanced problem-solving techniques
and mock assessments that mirror real-world placement tests.
