Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

1. Learn concepts and principles of data visualization particularly related to decision making.
2. Investigate technologies and practices for visualizing data as part of a data management
and analytics system.
3. Develop analytical and problem-solving skills, based on an understanding of financial
management concepts and theories
4. Identify the distribution of the random variable in simple settings and compute its
expectation and variance.

Introduction To Business Intelligence
Introduction to Business Intelligence, Data analytics transforming, BI Importance,
Advantages of Business Intelligence, Disadvantages of Business Intelligence, Trends In
Business Intelligence.

Unit II

Working with Analytics


Introduction to Analytics, Various Types of Analytics, Descriptive Analysis, Diagnostic
Analysis, Predictive Analysis, Prescriptive Analysis, DMAIC, How Analytics Support Retail
Company, Difference btw BI & BA, Importance of Business Analytics.

Unit III
Use Of Excel in Data Analysis and Visualization
Spreadsheet Formatting, Text Colors, Numbers Formatting Excel for Financial Analysis - P&L,
balance sheet and cash flow, financial modelling and business valuations (discussed in the
next section.), Budgeting and forecasting, Account reconciliations. Financial Models in Excel-
Three Statement, Discounted Cash Flow or DCF Financial Reporting in Excel, Importing and
Manipulating Data.

Introduction to Tableau
Data Visualization, Good Data Visualization, Use of Data Visualisation, What is Tableau,
Tableau vs Excel, Importing Data into Tableau, data pills, data tables, Bar chart, Line chart
and filters, maps, Heat Map, Scatter Plots, Joins and splits.

Working with Watson
IBM Watson Studio, Watson studio Components, Data preparation, Watson Machine
learning, Data Refinery, Watson Studio Neural Network Modeler, IBM Watson Studio jobs,
Use case with AutoAI.
