Subject: Reading and Writing


Topic: Pattern of Development - Narrative Writing
Time Allotment: 45 minutes
Grade Level: 11

I. Introduction (15 minutes)

A. Motivation (5 minutes)

1. Show a short video clip or read a short excerpt from a compelling narrative.
2. Ask students: What makes this story interesting?
3. Discuss their responses, highlighting the importance of vivid details and
emotional connections in narratives.

B. Presentation of the New Topic (5 minutes)

1. Define narrative writing: It tells a story about real or imagined events in an


engaging and structured way.
2. Explain the key elements of a narrative:
o Characters
o Setting
o Plot (Beginning, Middle, End)
o Conflict and Resolution
o Theme
3. Discuss the different narrative devices (e.g., flashback, foreshadowing, dialogue,
imagery).

C. Discussion (5 minutes)

 Compare a well-structured narrative with a poorly written one.


 Explain why organization and coherence are essential in storytelling.

II. Interaction (15 minutes)

Activity: "My Memorable Moment"

1. Ask students to recall a memorable moment in their lives.


2. In pairs, they will share their stories with each other.
3. Each student must highlight three elements that made their story engaging.
4. A few students will share their stories with the class.
III. Integration (10 minutes)
