Clat2 - Part B and Part C QB

The document outlines a series of questions related to networking concepts, including address translation, network devices, IPv4 addressing, routing types, and protocols like RIP and OSPF. It also includes practical tasks such as subnet design for given IP address blocks and analysis of IPv4 versus IPv6. Each question requires detailed explanations and diagrams to illustrate the concepts discussed.

Part – B

( 03 x 8 = 24 Marks)
Instructions:Answer All Questions

12. Explain how address translation is done by using network address translation
along with neat diagram
13. Discuss the specific functions of different kinds of network devices and how
they contribute to overall network performance and security in network
communication.
14. Explain the concept of IPv4 addressing, and how are addresses structured in
IPv4.
15. Explain about static routing, default routing, dynamic routing and its types
along with neat diagram.
16. Explain how path vector routing works along with example.
17. Explain the features and message format of of RIP V1 along with neat diagram.
18. Describe different kinds of network devices along with neat diagram.
19. Explain how Network Address Translation works to manage IP addresses in a
network and its role in enhancing security and connectivity. Include a diagram to
illustrate the flow of data during the translation process.
20. Describe IPv4 addressing architecture along with neat diagram.
21. Describe about distance vector routing protocol along with example.
22. Explain how the working principle of border gateway routing protocol along
with example.
23. Explain the features and message format of of RIP V2 along with neat diagram.

Part – C
( 01 x 15 =1 5 Marks)

24.An organization is granted a block of addresses with the beginning address

14.24.74.0/24. The organization needs to have 3 sub blocks of addresses to
use in its subnets. One sub block of 10 addresses, one sub block of 60
addresses, and one sub block of 120 addresses. Design the subnets, find the
first address and last address for each subnet.
25.Analyze the core principles of OSPF and critically evaluate how its features,
packet message formats, and message types contribute to the efficiency of
link-state routing in large-scale networks. Illustrate your explanation with a
diagram and propose potential improvements or alternative protocols that
could enhance OSPF's performance in complex, modern networking
environments.
26.An organization is granted a block of addresses with the beginning address
192.168.1.0/24. The organization needs to have 4 sub blocks of addresses to
use in its subnets. One sub block sales of 100 addresses, one sub block
accounts 25 addresses, one sub block purchase of 50 addresses, and one sub
block management of 120 addresses. Design the subnets and subnet mask ,
first address and last address also for each subnet.
27.Analyze the architectural differences between IPv4 and IPv6, particularly
focusing on IPv6's packet structure and its enhanced features. Discuss the
technical and operational challenges in migrating from IPv4 to IPv6. Using a
diagram, explain the translation mechanisms from IPv4 to IPv6, and propose
innovative methods to optimize compatibility and performance during this
transition in real-world networks
