Circle Theorems - WS

The document outlines a series of geometry problems related to circle theorems for Year 10 students. It includes questions about angles formed by diameters and tangents, distances between circle centers, and relationships between angles in circles. Each problem requires the application of circle theorems and provides space for reasoning and calculations.

CIRCLE THEOREM

YEAR:10

1.

AB is the diameter of a circle, centre O. C, D and E lie on the circle. EC is parallel

to AB and perpendicular to OD. Angle DOC is 38°. Work out
(a) angle BOC ,
(b) angle CBO,
(c) angle EDO
2

Two
circles, centres O and C, of radius 6cm and 4cm respectively, touch at Q.
PT is a tangent to both circles.
(a) Write down the distance OC.
(b) Calculate the distance PT.
3

R, H, S, T and U lie on a
circle, centre O. HT is a diameter and MN is a tangent to
the circle at T. Angle RTM = 61°.
Find
(i) angle RTH,
(ii) angle RHT,
(iii) angle RST
(iv) angle RUT.
4

A, B, C and
D are points on the circumference of a circle centre O. AC is a
diameter. BD = BC and angle DBC = 62U.
Work out the values of w, x, y and z. Give a reason for each of your answers.
w = ……………
because ……………………………………………………………………………………….
x = ……………

A, B and C are points on a circle, centre O. TA is a tangent to the circle at A and

OBT is a straight line. AC is a diameter and angle OTA = 24°.
Calculate
(a) angle AOT,
(b) angle ACB,
(c) angle ABT.
