Teacher will tell a story about Ana’s activities during Sunday from
morning until nighttime.

1. STORY READING
Ana’s Sunday
Every Sunday, Ana wakes up at 6:30a.m. She takes a bath at
7:05a.m. and eats her breakfast at 8:00a.m. At 9:15am, she
joins her grandmother to hear a mass in the nearby church.
After lunch, she meets her friends in the neighborhood to
play and have fun. But when the clock strikes at 3:00 p.m.,
she makes it a point that she is already at home working on
her assignments and studies her lessons until 6:20 p.m. to
give herself enough time to prepare for dinner at 7:15p.m.
After eating, she relaxes a bit then takes a shower at 7:45
p.m. to freshen herself before sleeping at 8:00p.m.

Shorthand – tells the hour.
Longhand – tells the minutes.

How to tell time


 In reading time, using an analog clock,
mention first the number where the shorthand
is pointed then the number where the
longhand is pointed.

 Reading the shorthand is simply saying the


number where it is pointed while that of the
longhand, you count by 5s starting from
number one (1).

 In reading time using a digital clock, you


simply read the numbers as reflected starting
from the left. The first number indicates hour
while the second number indicates minutes.

 Emphasize that a.m (anti-meridian) stands for


morning, from 12 midnight to 11:59 in the
morning, and p.m (prime-meridian) stands for

afternoon or evening, from p.m. is from 12nn
to 12 midnight.
Examples:

The time 9:50am is read as:


Nine and fifty minutes in the morning
Fifty minutes after nine in the morning

and long hands of the clock to show time of activities of
Ana in the story.
