Introduction to Unity
• Unity is a cross platform game engine developed by Unity
Technologies, first announced and released in June 2005 at
Apple Inc.'s Worldwide Developers Conference as a Mac OS X
exclusive game engine.
• As of 2018, the engine had been extended to support more than
25 platforms.
• The engine can be used to create three dimensional, two
dimensional, virtual reality, and augmented reality games, as well
as simulations and other experiences.
• The engine has been adopted by industries outside video gaming,
such as film, automotive, architecture, engineering and
construction.
• Unity is the ultimate game development platform.
• You can use Unity to build high-quality 3D and 2D games,
deploy them across mobile, desktop, VR/AR, console .
• It is a cross-platform game engine.
• which is primarily used to develop video games and
simulations for computers, consoles and mobile devices.
What is a Game Engine?
• A game engine is the software that provides game creators
with the necessary set of features to build games quickly
and efficiently.
• A game engine is a framework for game development that
supports and brings together several core areas.
• You can import art and assets, 2D and 3D, from other
software, such as Maya or 3s Max or Photoshop; assemble
those assets into scenes and environments; add lighting,
audio, special effects, physics and animation, interactivity,
and gameplay logic; and edit, debug and optimize the content
for your target platforms.
History :-
• Unity Technologies was founded as Over the Edge CCO CEO
Entertainment (OTEE) in Copenhagen in2004 by David CTO
Helgeson (CEO), Nicholas Francis (CCO), and Joachim
Ante (CTO).Over the Edge released its first game,
Global, in 2005.
• The game failed commercially, but the three founders
saw value in the game development tools that they had
created to simplify game development, and so they
shifted the company's focus to create an engine for
other developers.
• The company sought to "democratize" game development
and make development of 2Dand 3D interactive content
more access.
Why Unity…
• Unity is the ultimate
gamedevelopment platform.
• you canuse Unity to build highquality
3D and 2D games,deploy them
across mobile, desktop, VR/AR,

Programming Done by Unity:-
• Boo : Boo is an object-
oriented programming
language. It looks like python
but not similar
• It is designed by Rodrigo B.
De Oliveira in 2003
• Boo is influenced by C# and
Python programming
language
Games Made with Unity ..
• Temple Run 2 is an“endless/infinite
running”game, which is a
platformgame that has the
playercontrolling a character
thatcontinuously moves forwardon
a never ending path.
• These games' controlsoperate by
letting you swipeto change
directions and jump while
avoidingoncoming obstacles
andpitfalls
And Many More….
Uses :-
• It is used for production of 2 Dimensional and 3 Dimensional
Video games.
• It is Used to create Virtual reality and Augumented reality
environments.
• Unity is used for creating games and other apps, ads,
interactive stories and art, visualizations, film and probably
much more.
Advantages :-
1. Powerful Game Engine
2. Flexible
3. Easy to Use
4. Doesn’t cost anything to get started
5. High Quality
Disadvantages :-
1. It is not available for Operating system X or Linux
Software.
2. The license for unity is very costly.
3. The Unity Pro license doesn’t bring all the features to
mobile.
4. Hence an additional $1500-3000 investment is needed for
Mobile Pro license.

• Press the 'Unity' button (or 'Help' if you are on a Windows
machine).
• Press 'Manage License'.
• Select 'Activate new license' and type in your new Unity
serial number.
Conclusion :-
• Software applications to develop three dimensional
interactive scenarios example : World , environments and
games.
• Supports deployment for windows, Mac, Web { Client
Required }, iPhone, Android, Blackberry and etc..
• It is used to create two and three dimensional high quality
games.
• It is used to create augmented and virtual reality games.
