Prescribed Textbook
Learn Site

• All learning materials required will be made available through the use
of the learn site.
Students will be required to visit specific websites during the course of the year.
Students are also expected to make extensive use of the MSDN online
knowledge base and help files, programming/development websites as well as
the NELSON MANDELA UNIVERSITY Library. The ability to locate and utilize
appropriate reference material is considered critical for the successful
completion of this course. Students must make their own notes in class, and use
these in conjunction with the MSDN help-files and the feedback from practical
exercises. There is no textbook as all information can be retrieved from the web.
Class and practical attendance is VITAL!
Module Assessment
• Examinable (40% Year mark (DP) and 60% Exam mark)
• Year Mark:
• TM1 (17%) – Semester Test
• TM2 (17%) – Semester Test
• TM3 (18%) – Semester Test
• TM4 (18%) – Semester Test
• TM5 (20%) – Module Practical Assignment
• TM6 (10%) – Quiz Average (Continuous)
• Exam:
• End of year exam as per exam timetable.
Module Assessment
• Examinable (40% Year mark (DP) and 60% Exam mark)
• Exam:
• End of year exam as per exam timetable.
• A year mark of 40% is required to get access to the exam.
• Exam is subject to a sub-minimum of 40%
• A final mark of 50% is required to pass the module.
• Example:
• Year mark = 60 * 40% = 24
• Exam mark = 50 * 60% = 30
• Final Module Mark = 24 + 30 = 54%

Housekeeping
• Attending lectures is compulsory.
• Missing a test:
• Sick note by a registered Doctor within 48 hours of test.
• Death certificate in case of immediately family passing.
• Missing an assignment:
• No excuse as assignments will provide for sufficient time to complete and
submit.
• 38% and 39% != 40% && 48% and 49% != 50%
• Ask your questions in class, or use Q & A on Learn/Funda site.
• Content related questions on email will not be responded to.
• Personal matters (i.e. sick notes), welcome to use email.
