JAIN
• Distributed Systems: I have experience in developing high-performant, secure,
and resilient customer-facing applications handling massive scales (in terms of
both throughput and data size).
• AWS: I have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience on using most-popular
AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, ElasticSearch, ElastiCache, SNS, SQS,
Lambda, StepFunctions, CloudWatch, and more. I had designed and built service

architectures that were built entirely on AWS. I also have hands-on experience in
writing infrastructure as code using CloudFormation (CFN) templates and

• APIs: I have experience on working and scaling backend REST APIs with all SRE
best-practices.
Gurgaon, HR 122004 • Product Engineering: I have expertise in product engineering and have built
following products at scale: i) Transactions and Positions Master in Arcesium; ii)

• Partitioning, Sharding and enabling auto-archival for high-volume transactions
dataset tables (using hot, cold and warm table approach) in SQL Server.
Optimizing cost by moving immutable and less frequently accessed datasets from
SKILLS SQL Server to S3.
• Scaling REST APIs & increasing service capacities to handle > 10x of current scale
• Distributed Systems: Scaling Distributed (data size: >35 million/day, throughput: >5k requests/sec) and define consistent
Systems with SRE best practices API SLOs. Scaling strategies include pagination, batching, stream aggregation,
• AWS: Have used and worked upon SQL Server optimizations, caching, adding API guardrails, and more.

optimizing and paginating backend database queries (by removing unnecessary
• Rest APIs: Have been working on Rest joins) for APIs.

I had worked for ~6 years in Amazon in 3 different teams and across 2 different
locations.

Product: Digital HealthCare (Amazon Care)

• Built on AWS: The team was building the product from ground-up and it was
being built entirely on AWS. Product had the requirement for handling sensitive
data and building secure applications.
• EHR: Designed and built highly secure PHI data handling service to store
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) using DynamoDB's encryption-at-rest and
ElasticSearch with FHIR standards. Integrated EHR systems with Ayushmaan
Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) through asynchronous data pipelines and Pub/Sub
model. AWS Services: DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch,
IAM, ALB and more.
• Payments: Worked on integrating the new application with already existing
payments platform of Amazon.
• Chat: Designed and built ChatService for digital consultations between doctors
and patients. AWS Services: AmazonChime, API Gateway, ECS, DynamoDB,
CloudWatch, and more.
• Notifications: Designed NotificationService for the team to relay any
notifications related to doctors or patients using CDC events published from
different services. AWS Services: API Gateway, SNS, SQS, Lambda, AWS PinPoint,
DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and more.
Product: Amazon Home Services

• Core Systems: Designed and built service provider and technician management
services.
• Technician's Upskilling: Designed and built asynchronous applications for
technician's training management system. Integrated training management
system with external 3P LMS providers.
• Technician's Background Verifications: Asynchronous applications to integrate
Amazon with external 3P vendors for background verifications software. Built
fully on AWS.
• Ratings and Recommendations: Designed pluggable ratings and recommendation
engine to match job offer with the best suited technician.
• API Performance: Improved SLOs of the APIs by integrating ElasticSearch as a
secondary store for the search APIs.

Product: Middle-Mile Transportation System

• Oracle -> AWS: Migrated existing oracle-based databases to AWS - DynamoDB/RDS

/AWS-Aurora.
• Designed and built highly transactional async workflow based applications.
• Move to AWS: Re-architecting and migrating away existing applications on
Amazon's internal tools to fully cloud-based AWS services. This was done to
complete S-team's goal in Amazon to move EVERYTHING TO AWS.
• Deployment Pipelines: Improved deployment pipelines with full CI/CD support by
integrating automated integration tests, rollbacks, monitoring, canary
deployments, A/B testing, load replay capabilities, load testing capabilities, etc.
• Peak Scaling: Horizontally and Vertically scaling & de-scaling of applications +
connected components to handle >4x of current load to support Black Friday and
Prime Day sales traffic.

Arcesium - Member of Technical Staff

Hyderabad, India • 07/2015 - 05/2017

Product: Feeds ingestion application from external 3P vendors.

• A 2-member team (which grew later), building application and service from
ground-up to provide feeds capabilities in Arcesium by fetching feeds from
external 3P vendors like: i) Bloomberg; ii) Fidelity; iii) Reuters; iv) Markit MM.
• Feeds ingestion was generic and pluggable based on client's contract with the
Feeds provider. It had both sync and async workflows and mechanisms to
consume feeds.
• Mentoring and guidance to other team members.
