As one of the characteristics of industrial sewing machines, it will have the need to operate machine around moving
components such as needle and rotating shuttle, which may easily result in the risk of injury.
Therefore, please operate the machine correctly under the guidance of the safety operation knowledge of the trained
person or skilled personnel.

Features
Stitch length

Can be set in the range from 0.3 to 12.7mm

Stitch count

The maximum stitch count is 20,000 for a single sew program (the sewing machine can store 512 programs and the CF
card can store 900 programs).
The number of programs that can be actually stored may reduce if using the maximum stitch count for each pattern.

Initial configuration

Press on the initial boot screen to enter the language selection screen.

Programming with icons

While the programmer is working, some of icons appears on the screen which illustrate on-going operations or
functions.
This chapter describes the method of programming with icons.
Besides programming with the icons, programming with commands is also available.
Press and hold to switch between the mode of programming with icons and the mode of programming with
commands.
Refer to <Chapter 4 PROGRAMMING WITH COMMANDS> (page 24).

This section describes icons to be used for programming with icons.

Return to the previous screen or cancel settings.

Return to the main program screen.

Adjust the size of displayed contents. Or press and hold this icon to switch

This section describes how to set up the environment configurations.

The following items can be set:

Procedure for programming with icons

The procedure for programming with icons is as below:


1. Enter the programming screen

On the main program screen, select and then press .

Press and hold to switch to programming with icons mode if necessary.

2. Create program

Select and then press .

3. Position the machine needle point at the start point of pattern sheet

Move the pressure frame with , and then press when the needle point is at the start point of the
pattern sheet.

The following screen appears when finish programming the start point.

4. Create pattern

Select an icon on the screen in step 3 to create the desired pattern. The pattern is valid until deletion.
For more details refer to <Programming example> (page 14).

5. Enter an end code


Enter an end code when programming is complete.

(1) Select and then press .

(1) Select desired end code type with , and then press .

The following six end codes from 111 to 116 are available, each of which corresponds to machine operation as shown
in the following table.
Program without an end code set is invalid.

111 Normal end

112 Set the sewing speed at 1200 rpm or lower

113 Execute no thread wiping

114 Set the sewing speed at 1200 rpm or lower without thread wiping

115 Execute no thread cutting

116 Set the sewing speed at 1500 rpm or lower

* 117 to 119 are not available.


Taking "111" as an example as below.

(3) Press , the pressure frame moves back to the start point position.

6. Save the created program

(1) Select and then press .

(3) Input the program number.

(4) Input program description.

(5) Press to save program.

Note: Press to check the contents or change the path where the desired program is saved.
The displayed contents will change with the selected path.
The program will be saved to the sewing machine in default or saved to the path where the program saved
in previous time.

7. Ending programming

Press to back the programming mode screen.

The following describes how to program a pattern with curves.

Ensure to press twice to make a split at corner points C or E.

Procedure for modifying program


The procedure for modifying program by using icons is as follows.

1. Open the program to be modified.

Modify a part of pattern

Part of the programmed pattern is changed. The following describes how to move 5, 6 and 7 to 5', 6' and 7'.

The following describes how to move the pattern in parallel when the first stitch is the sewing start point.

Delete a part of pattern during programming

The following describes how to delete 2 stitches (7 and 8) at point 8 and creating a new program.

1. Press during programming to show the screen as below.

In this example, the 2 previous stitches are to be deleted. Press .
The needle point moves to point 6.

5. Press twice to back to the programming mode screen.

Check the program settings and attribute settings


It is available to check the program settings and attribute settings. The following items are displayed.
The items will appear on the screen as shown below.

You can set the attributes of the items which marked with *.

Check each stitch

Press to move the needle point forward, and press to move backward.
The needle point moves stitch by stitch and the screen will display the setting contents of the data.

Check a series of stitches automatically

1. Input the number of stitches to be moved.

2. Press to move the needle point forward, and press to move backward.
The needle moves to the point of the stitch count corresponding to the input in step 1.
The screen will display the setting data.
Input "999" to check all the stitches.

Skip

1. Input the number of stitches to be skipped.

2. Press , and then press to move forward, and press to move backward.
The needle skips the desired stich number corresponding to the input in step 1.
Input “999” to skip all the stiches, the needle point will move directly to the start point or end point.

Set attributes

1. Move the needle point to the desired position to set attribute and then press .
The attribute setting screen will appear as below.

You may manipulate programming with the combinations of some certain keys, which are called as “commands”.
This chapter describes the method of programming with commands.
Besides programming with commands, it is also available to programming with icons.
Press and hold to switch between the mode of programming with icons and the mode of programming with
commands.
Refer to <Chapter 3 PROGRAMMING WITH ICONS> (page 7).

Procedure for programming with commands

The procedure for programming with commands is as follows.

1. Enter the programming screen

Select and then press to display the programming screen.

Press and hold to switch to programming with commands mode if necessary.


The work clamp moves to the home position and the programming screen is displayed.

2. Position the needle point at the start point of pattern sheet

Move the pressure frame with , and then press when the needle point is at the start point of
the pattern.

The following screen appears when finish programming the start point.

3. Create program
Select and input commands to create the desired pattern. The data is valid until deletion.
For more details refer to [PD-3000 INSTRUCTION MANUAL].
4. Enter an end code
Enter an end code when programming is complete.
The following six end codes from 111 to 116 are available, each of which corresponds to machine operations as
shown in the following table.
Program without an end code set is invalid.

Wait at least 5 minutes after turning off the power switch and disconnecting the power cord from the wall outlet before
opening the cover of the control box. Touching areas where high voltages are present can result in severe injury.

If a malfunction should occur with the sewing machine, a buzzer will sound and an error code will appear in the display window.
Follow the remedy procedure to eliminate the cause of the problem.

Switch-related errors

Sewing data that exceeds the sewing machine's sewing area was loaded.
E501 Check the size of the sewing data.
The enlargement ratio caused the data pitch to exceed the maximum pitch of 12.7 mm. Set the
E502 enlargement ratio again.
Invalid code in sewing data.
E510 Reload the data from the CF card or floppy disk.
No end code has been input into sewing data.
E511 Input an end code, or change the program number.
E512 Number of stitches exceeds allowed maximum.
Extended option output number already exists. Change the extended option output number.
E520 If not using the extended option output, initialize the data to clear the extended option output data.
E530 Changing program number is prohibited.

Upper thread breakage occurred.
E600 Thread the upper thread. Resewing is then possible.

E710 Turn off the power, and then check if there are any problems with the sewing machine.
Abnormal current detected in X-feed motor.
E711 Turn off the power, and then check if there are any problems in the X-feed direction.
Abnormal current detected in Y-feed motor.
E712 Turn off the power, and then check if there are any problems in the Y-feed direction.
Abnormal current detected in work clamp motor.
E713 Turn off the power, and then check if there are any problems with the X-feed mechanism, Y-feed mechanism or work
clamp lifter.
External error input (AIRSW) detected.
E730 Turn off the power, and then check the air pressure.
Cooling fan does not operate.
E740 Turn off the power, and then check if the cooling fan is blocked with scraps of thread. Check that
connector P22 on the main P.C. board is properly connected.
Check if the fuse (F6) is blown.
