1. What is communication? 7Cs and element of effective communication.


Ans. Communication refers to the process of exchanging or passing of information, ideas or
thoughts from one person to other.
Elements: Sender, Receiver, Encoding, Decoding, Ideas, Channel, Feedback.
7Cs: Clear, Concise, Concrete, Correct, Coherent, Complete and Courtesy.

2. What is self-confidence?
Ans. It is the trust in your own abilities, qualities and judgment. Some people are born with
it and some learn to build up after facing the challenges of life. When you learn how to be
confident, you can use it in your everyday lite to tackle all your goals.
For example, it's a sense of self-confidence that takes a person on stage to speak

3. What is data and information?


Ans. Unprocessed raw facts and figures are data. e.g., a name (Ramu), some marks (72.5%),
a year (2015) etc. are data.
Information refers to the processed data that is meaningful e.g., Ramu, who passed in 2021,
scored 72.5% marks.

4. Name some input, output devices.


Ans. Input Devices: keyboard, mouse, scanner, camera, joystick.
Output Devices: monitors, printers, speakers, headphones, projectors.

5. What are alphanumeric keys?


Ans. It comprises of the following keys: A – Z, a – z, 0 – 9.

10. Write some examples of Hardware and Software.


Ans. Software: Software refers to the programs and instructions that tell the computer
system what tasks to perform. It includes the operating system (e.g. Windows, macOS,
Linux) that manages computer resources and provides a user interface, as well as application
software (e.g., word processors, web browsers, video editing tools) that enable users to
perform specific tasks.
Hardware: This includes the physical components of the computer system, such as the
central processing unit (CPU), memory, storage devices, motherboard, input devices (e.g.,.
keyboard, mouse, pen drive), output devices(e.g., monitor, printer), and connectivity
peripherals.

11. What are the use of Caps Lock and Number Lock key?
Ans. Caps lock is a key on your computer keyboard that, when pressed, changes the case of
the letters you type. When caps lock is activated, all letters you type will be in uppercase or
Capital letters.
NumLock is a key on many computer keyboards that allows for specific functions to be
enabled or disabled. It’s commonly used to activate the number pad, which contains the
numbers 0–9 and usually some other symbols.
12. Define Entrepreneurship.
Ans. An entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business. The process of setting up
a business is known as entrepreneurship. To meet financial needs is the aim of
entrepreneurship.
13. Define typing ergonomics.
Ans. Typing ergonomics is all about how we position our bodies and use the computer in a
safe and comfortable way while typing. It includes:
(a) sitting posture, position of hands, monitor placement
(b) Placement of keyboard,mouse, chair and table
(c) Positioning of fingers on the keyboard
(d) Allocation of keys to finger.
14. Define page orientation.
Ans. Page Orientation property provides Portrait and Landscape options to set the
orientation of the page. The default orientation is portrait.
15. Define text alignment.
Ans. Alignment is the position of the text between margins. There are four types of
alignment properties i.e., Left, Right, Centered, and Justified. By default the text is left
aligned.
16. Differentiate between 'Tab' and 'Spacebar' key.
Ans. Space bar key is used to create space between the characters while typing.
Tab key is used to give more than one space. It move the text cursor at set interval on the
same line.
17. What do you understand by Digital India?
Ans. Digital India is a flagship program of the Government of India with a vision to transform
India into a digitally empowered technology and economy. This program was launched on
July 1, 2015 by Hon’ Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
18. Explain insertion and deletion in Excel.
Ans. Insert or delete a column
1. Select any cell within the column, then go to Home > Insert > Insert Sheet
Columns or Delete Sheet Columns.
2. Alternatively, right-click the top of the column, and then select Insert or Delete.
Insert or delete a row
1. Select any cell within the row, then go to Home > Insert > Insert Sheet Rows or Delete Sheet
Rows.
2. Alternatively, right-click the row number, and then select Insert or Delete.
NOTE: To insert or delete more than one row (or column) at the same time, select as many
rows or columns as you want to add before you click the insert control. For example, to
insert two rows above a row, first select two rows in your table and then click Insert Above.

19. Define some features of Excel.

20. What is operator in Excel?


Ans. An 'Operator' in Excel is a symbol or function that denotes an operation such as
mathematical or comparison operations. There are four main types of Excel Operators:
Arithmetic, Comparison, Text and Reference.
• Arithmetic Operators. Plus (+) Minus (-) Multiply (*) Divide (/) Power (^)
• Comparison Operators. Equal to (=) Greater than (>) Less than (<) Greater than or equal to
(>=) ...

21. What is the sidebar?


Ans. PowerPoint has a left-hand side bar which has two very useful views. These views are
ideal for reviewing and editing slides. The side bar is visible in Normal view and is set to the
Slides tab by default. Slides Tab. This tab displays all of the slides in a vertically stacked
order.
22. What is slide master? How to write notes on it?
Ans. A slide master controls the overall appearance, such as formatting and design, of each
slide layout, and therefore each slide in your presentation. When you modify the slide
master within your presentation, the changes will be applied to every slide layout. All
templates contain at least one slide master. Notes button allows the user to write personal
note about a slide.

24. Write some functions used in Excel.
Ans. 1. SUM
The SUM() function, as the name suggests, gives the total of the selected range of cell
values.
2. AVERAGE
The AVERAGE() function focuses on calculating the average of the selected range of cell
values.
3. COUNT
The function COUNT() counts the total number of cells in a range that contains a number. It
does not include the cell, which is blank, and the ones that hold data in any other format
apart from numeric.

4. SUBTOTAL
Moving ahead, let’s now understand how the subtotal function works. The SUBTOTAL()
function returns the subtotal in a database. Depending on what you want, you can select
either average, count, sum, min, max, min, and others.
5. POWER
The function “Power()” returns the result of a number raised to a certain power.
25. How typing speed calculated?
Ans. The gross typing speed is calculated by taking all words typed and dividing by the time
it took to type the words in minutes. A "word" is equivalent to five keystrokes (including
spaces, numbers, letters, and punctuation marks).
26. Define page formatting.
Ans. The most common page formatting options include margins, page orientation, page
and section breaks, columns, and headers and footers. By default, many page formatting
options, such as margins, headers and footers apply to the entire document.
27. What is mail merge?
Ans. Mail merge lets you create a batch of documents that are personalized for each
recipient. For example, a form letter might be personalized to address each recipient by
name. A data source, like a list, spreadsheet, or database, is associated with the document.
28. Define environment.
Ans. Environment can be defined as a sum total of all the living and non-living elements and
their effects that influence human life. While all living or biotic elements are animals, plants,
forests, fisheries, and birds, non-living or abiotic elements include water, land, sunlight,
rocks, and air.
29. Explain function keys.
Ans. A function key on a computer or on a keyboard can be scheduled to induce an
operating system to accomplish concrete steps. The function keys are situated at the top of
your keyboard and are assigned from F1 to F12.
30. What are font commands?
Ans. The FONT command is used to identify the fonts that are to be specified with the
following commands: Traditional. PRINTLINE, FIELD, and TRCREF commands.
31. Define Manufacturing process.
Ans.

Manufacturing is the process of turning raw materials or parts into finished goods through
the use of tools, human labor, machinery, and chemical processing. Most products were
handmade using human labor and basic tools before the Industrial Revolution.

32. What is a paragraph?


Ans. A paragraph in Word is any text that ends with a hard return. You insert a hard return
anytime you press the Enter key. Paragraph formatting lets you control the appearance if
individual paragraphs. For example, you can change the alignment of text from left to centre
or the spacing between lines form single to double. A paragraph can said to be coherence
when the sentences are connected to each other.

33. Define insertion and deletion in MS Word.


Ans. To insert text:
1. Simply write the text using keyboard in text area.
2. Press enter key for next line.
To delete text:
3. To delete text to the left of the insertion point, press the Backspace key on your keyboard.
4. To delete text to the right of the insertion point, press the Delete key on your keyboard.
5. Select the word you want by clicking twice on it, then press the Delete key.

34. Define title bar.


1. Ans. A horizontal bar at the top of a window, bearing the name of the program and typically
the name of the currently active document. It has File, Home, Insert, Design, Layout, Review
buttons.
35. What is It and IteS?
Ans. IT means information technology. ITeS means Information Technology enabled
Services. IT involves creating, managing, storing and exchanging information using
technology. ITes helps to improve the efficiency of an organisation.
36. What are the visible and non-visible characters?
Ans. The most common non-visible characters in word processors are space, nonbreaking
space, tab character etc.
Printable characters include letters, digits, and special punctuation such as commas,
brackets, and question marks.
37. What are Renewable resources?
Ans. Renewable resources include solar energy, wind, falling water, the heat of the earth
(geothermal), plant materials (biomass), waves, ocean currents, temperature differences in
the oceans and the energy of the tides. Renewable resources can be recovered if used
judiciously.
38. What are non-renewable resources?
Ans. There are four major types of non-renewable resources: oil, natural gas, coal, and
nuclear energy. Oil, natural gas, and coal are collectively called fossil fuels. Fossil fuels were
formed within the Earth from dead plants and animals over millions of years—hence the
name “fossil” fuels.
39. Define sustainable development.
Ans. Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
