LESSON 8: WEBPAGE DESIGN

Web Design
- Concept of planning, creating and maintaning websites.
- Using creativity to design a website and updating it regularly to incorporate changes
- Areas in Web Design includes; Search engine optimization, User experience design,
Standardized code, Graphic design

Web Design Principles and Elements

A. Purpose
- Should have a clear purpose
- Aiming for a certain goal
B. Communication
- Set it as clear as possible
- Set a clear information/content that is reliable from a source that is legit
- Easy to read and understand
C. Typefaces
- Most dominant and noticeable in terms of visuals
- ex; fonts, color, meargins, grid system, etc.
- 16px and stick to maximum of 3typeface
D. Color
- Enhance user experience
E. Images
- Picture can speak a thousand words; it has a lot of meanings, can convey more information
rather than words.
F. Navigation
- How easy to act and move around in the website
- Three Clicks Rule - find infor within 3 clicks
A. Breadcrumb Navigation
- feature located at the top of a webpage
- tells the user what page they are on and how they ended up there.
G. Layout
- Arrangement of Elements
- A guideline
- Helps improve Readability, Useability, and User Experience
H. Grid
- Structure that helps arrange contents in a structured manner
- Has rows and columns
- Enables the user to creates sections or groups of related content
- Enables stability and structure
- Has three parts; Columns, Margins, and Gutters
A. Manuscript Grid - most simpliest grid, composts of columns
B. Column Grids - Compost of columns, most common grid
C. Modular Grid - Composts of rows and columns that creates module
D. Hierarchical Grids - Has irregular grids and most flexible grids.
I. F-Pattern
- The way users scan and read content on the webpage
- Based on the study’s human studies like ‘floes’
- The way our eyes move when reading a content
- For sequence and easy navigation
- Helps establish a visual hierachy
