CIRCLES(EXTRA QUESTIONS)
1. If the angle between two tangents drawn from an external
point 𝑃 to a circle of radius 𝑎 and centre , is 60°, then find the length of 𝑂𝑃. 2. 𝑃𝑄 is a tangent drawn from an external point 𝑃 to a circle with centre 𝑂, 𝑄𝑂𝑅 is the diameter of the circle. If ∠ 𝑃𝑂𝑅 = 120°, what is the measure of ∠ 𝑂𝑃𝑄? 3. In the given figure 𝑃𝐴 and 𝑃𝐵 are tangents to a circle with centre 𝑂. If ∠𝐴𝑃𝐵 = (2𝑥 + 3)° and ∠𝐴𝑂𝐵 = (3𝑥 + 7)°, then find the value of 𝑥.
4. In figure, 𝑃𝑄 is a tangent at a point 𝐶 to a circle with centre 𝑂.
If 𝐴𝐵 is a diameter and ∠𝐶𝐴𝐵 = 30°, find ∠𝑃𝐶𝐴.
5. A tangent 𝑃𝑄 at a point 𝑃 of a circle of radius 5 𝑐𝑚 meets a line
through the centre 𝑂 at a point 𝑄 so that 𝑂𝑄 = 13 𝑐𝑚. Find the length 𝑃𝑄. 6. In Figure, 𝐶𝑃 and 𝐶𝑄 are tangents to a circle with centre 𝑂. 𝐴𝑅𝐵 is another tangent touching the circle at 𝑅. If 𝐶𝑃 = 11 𝑐𝑚, and 𝐵𝐶 = 7 𝑐𝑚, then find the length of 𝐵𝑅. 7. Using the figure given below, prove that 𝐴𝑅 = (perimeter of triangle 𝐴𝐵𝐶)
8. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external
point to a circle are equal. Using the above, prove the following: 𝐴𝐵𝐶 is an isosceles triangle in which 𝐴𝐵 = 𝐴𝐶, circumscribed about a circle, as shown in Fig. Prove that the base is bisected by the point of contact.
9. In figure, 𝑂 is the centre of the circle and 𝑇𝑃 is the tangent to
the circle from an external point 𝑇. If ∠𝑃𝐵𝑇 = 30°, prove that = 𝐵𝐴 ∶ 𝐴𝑇 = 2 ∶ 1
