Layer Mask

Aim
We change the white background of butterfly image to flower background by
using a non-destructive method called layer mask.

Procedure
1. Open an image of flower in Photoshop (file→ open), now the
Background layer created in the layers palette.
2. Now open the image of butterfly, copy the butterfly image (select→ all,
edit→ copy) and paste it on the flower image (edit → paste).
3. To extract the butterfly from its white background, use Magic Wand Tool
(W) and select its white background completely (to add more selection
hold shift key and use Alt key to subtract a selection).
4. Now do the inverse selection (select→ inverse), this omits the white
background and selects butterfly.
5. Add the layer mask to the butterfly image (second option in the bottom of
layer palette), now the butterfly is displayed with flower background.

Applying filter on images

Aim
We apply filter on the image to hide unwanted portions from the image.

Procedure
1. Open an image (Usain bolt) in Photoshop (file→ open).
2. Duplicate the Background layer (right-click on background → Duplicate
layer option from layers palette).
3. Select the portion (Usain bolt) of the image with lasso tool, after that
create a new layer (right click on background copy→ layer via copy).
4. And Apply feather to the selection (select→ Feather) try 10 pixels.
5. Apply Radial blur filter to the second layer (filter→ Blur→ Radial Blur),
set amount to 75, blur method to zoom and quality to best.
6. Save the document (file→ save).

Result:

Successfully added effects to the image.

CREATING A 3D TEXT

Aim
We are going to create a 3d text in the Photoshop.

Procedure
1. Create a new document in Photoshop (file → new), set width to 1400,
height to 800, and resolution to 300 pixels and choose white in contents
option.
2. Select Horizontal Type Tool (T), set the font type to “impact”, font size
to “80”, and choose a text color from color swatch in options bar.
3. Now type the text “3D TEXT” in the document, to commit it click the
checkmark in options bar.
4. To resize the text go to Edit→ Free Transform.
5. Convert the text into shape (Layer→ Type→ Convert to shape).
6. Change the perspective of the text (Edit→ Transform→ Perspective),
now click on bottom right corner of text and drag it down and press enter
to commit changes.
7. Create 20 copies of the text layer (with Move Tool selected click on text
layer hold Alt key and press right arrow in keyboard).
8. Move the original text player to the top(ctrl+shift+])
9. Now, Except background layer and text layer, Merge all the other
duplicate layers (link duplicate layers and go to Layer→ Merge Linked).
10.Add Layer Style to that first text layer(select Layer Style option in the
palette choose Gradient Overlay and set style to linear, select black white
from Gradient option, and Angle to 90) Click ok.

CREATING A TEXT CLIP

Aim
We create a text in one layer and group it with an image in another layer
to create a text clip.

Procedure
1. Open a new document in Photoshop (file→ new), and choose the size
1920x1080 HDTV 1080i from preset sizes option in the new window.
2. Type some text on the document using Horizontal Type Tool (T).
3. Open an image (file→ open), and copy that image (select → all & edit →
copy) and close it.
4. Now paste that image into the document (Edit→ paste).
5. Now group the layers (layer → group with previous).
6. Save the document (file→ save)

Result:

Successfully added effects to image.

Image Touch-up
Aim
Repair imperfections by painting with pixels from another part of
your image using the Healing Brush tool

Procedure
1. Select the Healing Brush tool (J) from the toolbar. If you
can’t find the Healing Brush tool, click and hold the Spot Patch
tool to show the Healing Brush tools, and then select the
Healing Brush tool.
2. In the tool options bar, click the brush sample and set the brush
options in the pop-up panel — Mode, Source, Aligned,
Sample, and Diffusion.
3. To set the source sampling area, position the pointer over an
area in your image and Alt-click (Win) or Option-click (Mac).
4. Drag anywhere in the image. The sampled pixels are blended
with the existing pixels each time you release the mouse button.

Successfully added effects to the image.

Replace image section

Aim
Replace a selected area with pixels from another part of your image
Procedure

1. Select the Patch tool (J) from the toolbar. If you can't find
the Patch tool, click and hold the Healing Brush tool to
show the other related tools and then select the Patch tool.
2. In the tool options bar, choose Normal as the Patch option, and
select either Source or Destination.
3. With the Patch tool selected, draw a selection border over an
area on your image that you want to replace.
4. To patch the Source, drag your selection to an area that contains
matching detail to cover the part of the image you want to
remove. To patch the Destination, drag the selection to that part
of your image where you want to copy the selected pixels.

Aim
Add light effect to image and Create animation in adobe image ready.

Procedure
1. Open car image in Photoshop and duplicate the background layer.
2. Add light effect to image( filter->Render->lensflare)
3. Now, Open the project in adobe image ready (File->Jump to)
4. Change the layer visibility (off) of duplicate layer in layers panel.
5. add frame in animation window(click duplicate frame at bottom of
window)
6. Change the layer visibility (on) of duplicate layer in layers panel.
7. In animation window, Set the time to 0.1 sec to first frame.
8. Duplicate the current frame in animation window and set the time to
0.1sec.
9. Go to the layers panel now set the visibility of background copy to on.
10. To see the output file->preview in-> internet explorer.
11.Save the document (file→ save).

Successfully added effects to the image.

Guided Layer
Aim:
We draw an object in one layer1 and set the movement of object in the
way we directed with motion guide by using Flash.

Procedure
1. Open a flash document.
2. Draw a circle on the layer1, and convert it to symbol (modify→ convert
to symbol) choose Graphic option.
3. Now go to 30th frame in timeline, Insert a keyframe on it, now come to 1st
frame in timeline and create motion tween.
4. Add motion guide to the layer1. By selecting add motion guide option in
the bottom of layer window.
5. Draw a path on new layer by using pencil tool.
6. Insert a key frame at 30 in timeline for new layer.
7. Now come to 30th frame of layer1, move the circle to the end of path.
8. Test your movie (Ctrl+Enter).

Result:

Successfully created an animation.

CREATING SHAPE TWEEN

Aim
Animate an object to Change its shape in specified time intervals.

Procedure

1. Open a new Flash document. Draw a rectangle by selecting the rectangle


tool (R) from the Tools panel.
2. Insert a keyframe at 15 in timeline. Now remove the rectangle and draw a
circle using oval tool, choose a different fill colour for circle from
properties.
3. To make the Shape Tween, Select any frame between the two keyframes
(1 and 15), after that go to properties panel choose shape from tween
drop-down menu. After that there will be an arrow, between the two
keyframes showing that shape tween has created
4. Again insert a keyframe at 30 in timeline, now remove the circle and
draw a star using polystar tool (select polystar tool by a long press on
rectangle tool , after that go to properties panel →click options button →
choose star from the dialog box ), choose a different fill colour for star
from properties.
5. To make the Shape Tween, Select any frame between the two keyframes
(15 and 30), and choose shape from tween drop-down menu. After that
there will be an arrow, between the two keyframes showing that shape
tween has created
6. Choose Control > Test Movie to test your movie.

MOUSE EVENTS
AIM
To set the three types of mouse events for a button in flash document.
Procedure
1. Select the RECTANGLE tool, set STROKE COLOUR to NO STROKE,
the FILL COLOUR to RED, then drag a rectangle near the top left of the
stage.
2. Select the SELECTION TOOL, click on the rectangle and press F8 to
convert it to a symbol.
3. Set the symbol name to HOME, the TYPE (or BEHAVIOUR) to
BUTTON and select OK.
4. Double click on the button to edit it. When you do this the TIMELINE
panel changes to display the button states.
5. Click on the frame below the OVER heading in the TIMELINE panel.
6. Press the F6 key to add a key frame to the OVER state.
7. Click on the rectangle and change its FILL COLOUR to BLUE.
8. Click on the UP key frame in the TIMELINE panel and the red rectangle
should be returned.
9. Click on the frame below DOWN section in the TIMELINE panel and
press the F6 key to insert another KEYFRAME.
10.Click on the rectangle and set its FILL COLOUR to GREEN.
11.Text can be added to the button. This only needs to be done in one of the
button states, but it is better to place it in a separate layer.
12.Click on the INSERT LAYER button to insert a new layer and call the
layer: Text
13.Select the TEXT TOOL, click at the left side of the rectangle and enter:

14.Highlight the text and set the TEXT COLOUR to YELLOW, the STYLE
to BOLD and the FONT SIZE to a size so that the text fits neatly inside
the rectangle.
15.Display the CONTROL menu and select TEST MOVIE (or press
CTRL+<enter>).

Ball Hitting Ball Tween

Aim:
To draw two circles one in layer1 and another one in layer2 to create
collision effect.

Procedure:

1. Open a new Flash document. Draw a circle by selecting the Oval


tool (O) from the Tools panel. Now start dragging, while holding the
SHIFT key.
2. Select the circle with the Selection tool (V) from the Tools panel, by
double-clicking on it.
3. To create a motion tween animation, we need to convert circle to a
symbol. For that Choose Modify > Convert to Symbol. Choose Movie
Clip, and in Name field type circle. Click OK to create Movie Clip. Now
a thin blue square will appear around circle.
4. Now we need to create the movement by using the Timeline, for that we
need to create keyframe, Right-click on frame 20 and choose Insert
Keyframe from the menu that appears.
5. Now click on the circle and move it to a different position.
6. To make the Motion Tween, right-click anywhere between the two
keyframes, and choose Create Motion Tween from the pop-up menu.
After that there will be an arrow, between the two keyframes showing
that motion tween has created
7. Now create layer2, Repeat the above steps and make the shapes move in
the opposite direction.
8. Choose Control > Test Movie to test your movie.
BALL HITTING BALL
Bouncing Ball animation

Aim:
To draw staircases in layer1 and ball shape in layer2 to create bouncing
effect.

Procedure:

1. Open a new Flash document.


2. Select the Rectangle tool(R) from tools panel, and draw a box in the
working area.
3. Now copy that rectangle and paste it two more times. And adjust the size
using free transform tool (Q) to look like staircase.
4. Next create layer2 and draw ball shape using the Oval tool (O) from the
Tools panel.
5. Select the ball shape with the Selection tool (V) from the Tools panel, by
double-clicking on it.
6. To create a motion tween animation, we need to convert circle to a
symbol. For that Choose Modify > Convert to Symbol. Choose Movie
Clip, and in Name field type circle. Click OK to create Movie Clip. Now
a thin blue square will appear around circle.
7. Next we need to create the bouncing effect, for that we need to create key
frame in both layer1 & 2, Right-click on frame 5 and choose Insert Key
frame in Timeline.
8. Now click on the ball shape and place it ball like it falling on the surface
of stair case.
9. Again create key frame in 10, place the ball above the next stair case for
bouncing effect.
10.Repeat the steps 8 and 9 for remaining staircases.
11.To make the Motion Tween, first select layer2 in timeline then right-click
anywhere between the two keyframes, and choose Create Motion
Tween from the pop-up menu. After that there will be an arrow, between
the two keyframes showing that motion tween has created
12.Choose Control > Test Movie to test your movie.
