Ms Paint

1. What is Ms Paint?
Answer: Microsoft Paint or 'MS Paint' is
a basic graphics/painting utility that is
included in all the Microsoft Windows
versions. MS Paint can be used to draw,
colour and edit pictures. MS Paint is found
in the Windows Start menu within the Accessories Folder.

Note: BMP is the extension of Ms Paint.

2. Steps to open Ms Paint:


 Click on “Start Button”
 Click on “All Programs”
 Click on “Accessories”
 Click on “Paint”

OR
 Press Windows key + R
 Type “Mspaint”
 Press Enter

Tools
 Pencil Tool: The Pencil tool, found by pressing
the Paintbrush tool in the Toolbar, is for creating
more free-form paths—similar to drawing on paper
with a pencil

 Fill with Color Tool: Click an area on the canvas


to fill it with the foreground color, or right-click
to fill it will the background color.

 Text Tool: Insert the text into the picture.


 Eraser Tool: Erase part of the picture and
replace it with the background color.
Eraser

 Color Picker Tool: Pick a color from the picture


and use it for drawing.

 Magnifier Tool: Change the magnification


for a part of the picture.

 Brushes: It is used to create stripes of solid


or patterned color. To draw using this tool,
click and drag the mouse.
Shapes
The shapes use for Creating shapes in
MS-Paint. The shape tool has 23
predefined shapes.
Shapes can play important roles in the
creation of drawings and paintings. Shape can help to create complex
drawings and paintings, affect composition, and contribute to the balance
within a work.

 To insert shapes in drawing area: Position the pointer on your


Microsoft Paint image where you would like to insert your ready-made
shape. Drag the pointer to draw the shape to the desired size. Insert a
shape with equal sides by holding the "Shift" key as you drag the
pointer.

Color

 There are two types of colors: Color 1 & Color 2

 Use of color1 and color2 in paint:


By default, new images in MS Paint use black as foreground color
(“Color 1”), and white as background (“Color 2”). Whenever you use a
paint tool like the pencil, brush, line, or eraser, it uses your Color 1
setting.
