Topic: Basic concepts of Probability
Time Frame: 1 session
Date: February 16, 2025

I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the topic, the student should be able to
a. define experiment
b. calculate the probability of the event
c. tell whether the event will likely, unlikely or impossible, and certain to happen
d. Solve problems involving basic concepts of probability

III. LEARNING PROCEDURE:

A. MOTIVATION and Evaluation of Required Prior Knowledge.

Motivation for the New topic.


Short Experiment on predicting outcomes
Direction: A random student will be selected. The
teacher will ask the student to choose some random
cards from imaginary deck following the teachers
instruction.The purpose of the experiment is to either Answer:
prove or disprove the ability of someone to predict
outcome.

● Review and Evaluation of Required Prior Knowledge. (Before every discussion)

B. LESSON and ACTIVITY:


PART 1:

The teacher will now introduce the topic and the learning objectives for today’s Lesson.

PART 2:

● Before the teacher proceeds to the discussion, students will team up with their “Partner”.

(Partner pair of students who will help each other better understand the discussion, and challenge
themselves to be better through hardship and success.)

Part 3:
Short Activity: Tossing a Dice

Make a list of outcome in drawing a cards from deck of cards

Part 4:
● The teacher will check their answers if it's correct. And the teacher will introduce the
definitions using powerpoint presentation.
Part 5:
Short Activity: Make a list of the outcomes from the following events

1. Rolling a die

2. Tossing a coin

3. Spinning a pentagon pointer

Short Activity #2: Calculate the probability of the following

1. Getting a head when tossing a coin.

2. Choosing odd numbers from numbers 2-11.

3. Choosing a ‘B’ from the word PROBABILITY

The rest will be presented in PowerPoint presentation.

C. EVALUATION
Students will answer a time restricted activity to assess their individual learnings and practice precision
and accuracy of answers given a limited time.

D. GENERALIZATION
The students will now answer their exit pass Question on a ¼ sheet of paper.
Exit Pass Question:

(The teacher will ask the students about the definitions discussed a while ago)
(The teacher will give the students questions)
1. How will you relate our current topic to the problem introduced at the beginning of
the discussion? (The student with the best answer will share his/her answer on the
next meeting.)
2. Rate your Learning/ understanding on this discussion.
3 – I understand Every part of the Lesson.
2 – I understand at least half of the lesson, (Students will write the things they want to
learn more.)
1 – I did not understand more than half of the lesson. (Students will write the things
that he/she only understands.)
E. ASSIGNMENT
● Answer the Activity in your book..
● Individual Assignment:
On a clean sheet of paper, answer page 10 Activity A and B.
