Datto Workplace Initial

Setup

Datto Workplace is for device backups, configuration files


and work-related documents. DO NOT use this area to
back up your laptop or workstation. No personal items,
programs or other items are to be stored using Datto
services.
Activate your account
1. You should receive an email from the Data Department with the activation link. Click on the blue box labeled
“Activate Account”.

2. You now need to pick a password. This will be the most frustrating part of the initial setup. You need to pick a
password that scores a “Good” or “Excellent”. The bars under the password entry will give you the current
score. Datto’s only suggestion is:

“The password strength is determined by a combination of length and which types of characters are used. Avoid
passwords that are easy to guess or used with other websites”.

Once your new password has been entered into both entries, click “Activate Account”.
3. Read and click the “Acknowledge”. You have now successfully activated your Datto Workplace account. When
you need to access your account again, just open a browser and point it to:

Installing the client on a laptop or workstation
To access Datto Workplace on your workstation or laptop, you will need to install the Datto Workplace Client. You can
access the downloads page one of two ways:

1. From the initial login page

2. From “Devices” after you have logged in:

3. Click on the blue “Windows” link and wait for the download to complete.
4. Run the downloaded program and then click “Install”.

5. After the setup has run and installed the client, click “Launch”
6. Login with your email and password
7. Click “Next >>” to agree to the license agreement.
8. Click to check the two boxes that you understand the End User Agreement and Privacy Agreement then click
“Accept”
9. Close “Welcome to Workplace”. You will see a few added locations in the file explorer and the notification area.
Both marked locations will take you to the files located on the Datto servers.
Installing the client on a mobile device
To access Datto Workplace on your mobile device, you will need to install the Datto Workplace Client. You can access
the downloads page one of two ways:

1. From the initial login page

2. From “Devices” after you have logged in. Scroll down a bit to find:

3. Use your camera to scan the QR code appropriate for the maker of the phone and follow the prompts. I was
unable to gather screenshots for this section.
4. Once installed, you should now have access to you files on the Datto Workplace servers.
