Activity 4
1) Indenting a paragraph pushes its first line inward, marking a new section
and improving readability.
4) Select the Word – Highlight the specific word you want to enclose.
Open Border Settings – In a word processor like Microsoft Word, go to the
"Borders and Shading" option under the "Home" or "Design" tab.
Choose Border Type – Select a box or custom border style.
Adjust Settings – Modify the color, thickness, or style if needed.
Apply the Border – Click "OK" to apply the border around the selected word.
5) When applying character formatting (such as bold, italics, or font changes),
you must select one or more characters because the formatting only applies
to the highlighted text. Without a selection, the software wouldn’t know
which part of the text to modify.
In contrast, paragraph formatting (such as alignment, indentation, or line
spacing) applies to the entire paragraph where the cursor is placed. Since
paragraph formatting affects the whole block of text, there's no need to
highlight anything—just placing the cursor inside the paragraph is enough.
Activity 6
4) Choosing the "Page X of Y" format instead of just "Page X" provides
additional information by displaying the total number of pages in the
document. This helps readers understand the document's length,
making it easier to navigate, especially in longer documents. For
example, "Page 3 of 10" indicates that the current page is the third out
of a total of ten pages.
5) if all the pages have the number 1 in the footer, it’s likely because the
page numbering was set incorrectly, possibly starting over at "1" on each
page or section. This can happen if:
Section Breaks – The document may have section breaks that are not linked
to the previous section, causing page numbering to restart.
Manual Numbering – Page numbers might have been inserted manually on
each page instead of using automatic page numbering.
Different First Page Option – If the "Different First Page" option is enabled,
it could be causing the page numbers to restart.
To fix this, ensure that page numbering is correctly set to continue from the
previous section and is not restarted on each page.
