Q.3. (A) Complete any one of the following activities: [3]

(i) Radius of a circle is 20 cm. Distance of a chord from the centre of the circle is 12 cm. Find
the length of the chord.
Complete the activity to get the answer
Let the centre of the circle be O. Radius = OD = 20 cm.
Distance of the chord CD from O is12 cm. seg OP ⊥ seg CD
∴ OP = _____cm
Now CP = PD ...... perpendicular drawn from the centre bisects the chord.
In the right angled ∆OPD, using Pythagoras’ theorem
OP2 + PD2 = OD2
_____ + PD2 =_____
PD2 = __________
PD2 = __________
= __________
= __________
∴ PD = __________
∴ CP = 16
CD = CP + PD = 16 + _____ = ________
∴ the length of the chord is ________cm.

(ii) Find the volume of a sphere whose surface area is 314.sq.cm. (Take 𝜋 = 3.14)
Complete the activity to get the answer
