Narrative Report in EGRA and Phil-Iri in Flipino

According to the authors of English Expressway Book,

“Reading is fundamental in today’s society, it is a vital skill in finding a
good job and is important because it develop one’s mind. The pupil’s
learned because we teach and one of the important skills that needs to be
developed in children is Reading.

Every teacher of Sogod Central School conducted reading

assessment in Filipino one of these is the Early Grading Reading
Assessment (EGRA) for grade 2 pupil and Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory (Phil-IRI) for grades III-6. What is EGRA? It is an individually
administered oral assessment that aims to assess foundational literacy
skills of children in the early grades. EGRA was created ton inform
education systems and programmed and alone is not an intervention.
Designed to measures the literacy skills that readers need for beginning
reading, EGRA is a collection of subtasks, each with a specific purpose.
What is PHIL-IRI? It is a self-instructional application that can help
teachers help their learners enhance their reading proficiency and
develop a love for reading. Phil-IRI used as a classroom-based assessment
tool aims to measure and describe the learner’s reading performance in
both English and Filipino languages in oral reading, silent reading and
listening comprehension.

Since there were no face-to-face classes as of this time, the

teachers conduct home visitation to administer Phil-IRI and EGRA on the
first month of the school year. It was found out that are still pupils need to
be remediated due to the results of the said assessment.

All in all, this tool helps a lot to us teachers where we were

able to identify our pupils who really needs our help and guidance in
dealing its reading progress and ability. It’ll next academe in continuing
giving good education to our learners.

2023 NATIONAL FESTIVAL OF TALENTS

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Learning

Delivery (BLD), will conduct the 2023 National Festival of Talents (NFOT) with the
theme, Reinforcing 21st Century Learning and Fostering Creative
Industries through Talents and Skills Exhibition in Region X (Northern
Mindanao) from July 17 to 21, 2023 (inclusive of travel time).
As provided in the Republic Act (RA) 10533, titled An Act Enhancing the
Philippine Basic Education System by Strengthening Its Curriculum and
Increasing the Number of Years for Basic Education, Appropriating Funds
Therefore and for Other Purposes, and DepEd Order (DO) No. 02l, s. 2019, titled
Policy Guidelines on the K to 12 Basic Education Program, consistent with the
DepEd goal of producing functionally literate and holistically developed Filipinos,
all NFOT events are aligned with the essential learning competencies and
standards of the K to i2 curriculum.
The NFOT, as a co-curricular activity, is a clear and proactive
reinforcement of the teaching and learning process and reflects the significant
association between what the learners learned in school and what they
performed and produced during this activity. The conduct of NFOT is consistent
with the MATATAG education agenda: Take care of learners by promoting learner
well-being, inclusive education programs, and ensuring that all learners,
regardless of background, have access to quality learning opportunities and
services.
Participation in the 2023 NFOT is voluntary and shall not, in any way,
affect the time-on-task of teachers as this activity's target learning standards
and competencies are already embedded in teachers' actual classroom teaching
and assessment process.
For the past years, NFOT has provided basic education learners with
relevant and meaningful learning opportunities and reflected on how well they
perform in schools as tie target learning competencies of this activity are also
captured in the National Achievement Test (NAT). Specifically, NFOT enables
learners to demonstrate their best products, services, and performances as
authentic pieces of evidence of their learning across academic areas, key stages,
inclusion, and special curricular programs.

With the passage of RA 11904, titled Philippine Creative Industries

Development Act, DepEd is expected to contribute to achieving the much-
needed protection and preference of local creatives and products. As such, NFOT,
as one of the major activities of DepEd, will contribute toward the attainment of
developing learners' talents and skills in creative industries.
For this year, the 2023 NFOT aims to provide opportunities for learners
from public and private elementary and secondary schools, as well as those from
the Alternative Learning System (ALS), Indigenous People Education (IPED),
Special Needs Education Program (SNEd), and Madrasah Education Program
(MEP) to showcase their talents and skills and explore the culture of the host
region. It also provides a platform for strengthening teachers' and learners'
knowledge and skillsets as they listen to the invaluable insights shared by the
invited panel of experts.

babasahing kanyang isinulat. Isa sa magandang gawain ay ang
pagbasa, sapagkat hinggil sa iyong hiling at interes dito
maraming mga bagay itong naidudulot. Nakapagpalawak ito ng
ating imahinasyon. Naipasasaisip sa ating ang ating nababasa
ang mga bagay na imposible nating makikita o mararanasan.
Ngayong taon ang Tema ay “Rediscovering the Legacy of
Literature through Reading” dated Oct. 27, 1219, s.2022.

Kaugnay nito, upang mas mapaunlad ang pagkagiliw ng

mga mag-aaral sa pagbasa, ang Paaralang Sentral ng Sogod ay
nakikiisa sa okasyong ito ula ika-7 ng hanggang ika 29 ng
Nobyembre sa pamumuno ng aming punongguro na si Gng.
Marieber T. Pulvera, si Gng. Amada A. Baladjay ang coordinator

saan pwede pumunta doon ang mga bata at magbasa ng kung
anu-ano. Mayroon kaming lugar kung saan may isang guro na
magkukwento na may suot na damit suot ni “Little Red Riding
Hood”.

Ang Buwan ng Agosto ay ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika
sa buong bansa. Alinsunod sa itinakda ng Proklamasyon Blg. 1041, taong

Pagtuklas at Paglikha “.

Wikang Filipino at wikang katutubo.
