1. Find the static and dynamic resistance of a Germanium diode having reverse saturation current of
10µA at 300 𝐶 for an applied bias of 0.4V.
2. With a neat diagram, explain the structure and operation of MOSFET. Calculate the bias current, if
VDD = 1.8V, RD = 4kΩ, W/L = 2/0.18, μnCox = 150 μA/V2, VGS = 1.2V, VTH = 0.6V.
3. Derive the expression for dynamic resistance of a PN junction diode starting from the diode current
equation.
4. Explain the operation of Centre-tap Full Wave Rectifier with neat circuit diagram and waveform.
Derive the equation for Idc, Vdc, Irms, Vrms, ripple factor and efficiency.
5. An AC input of 230V, 50Hz is applied to a transformer having turns ratio 10:1. Secondary of the
transformer is connected to a Half Wave Rectifier with capacitor filter has to supply an average voltage
of 30V to a 900Ω load. Find Vrms and capacitance required to limit the ripple factor at 0.05. Assume
frequency=50Hz. Compare the ripple factor with and without filter.
6. A Zener regulator circuit has 𝑅𝑆 = 150Ω, 𝑅𝐿 = 300Ω and 𝑉𝑍 = 10V. Find the minimum and maximum
Zener current when input voltage is varied between 12V to 18V. Draw the circuit of a Zener voltage
regulator and label all the components.
7. A (7, 4) bit Hamming code received is 1110111. Considering even parity, check for errors in the
received code and if there is an error, write the corrected code. Also represent the corrected code in
8421 BCD code.

Plot the timing diagram for the same.
10. Design the adder circuit using two OPAMP’s to obtain: 𝑉𝑜𝑢𝑡 = 5𝑉1 − 2𝑉2 − 10𝑉3. Assume RF = 10kΩ.

12. An audio frequency signal 5sin (2π200t) volts is used to amplitude modulate a carrier of 30sin
(2π1000t) volts. Determine the i) Modulation index ii) The bandwidth required for transmission iii)
Side band frequencies. Also Plot the frequency spectrum of AM wave.
13. Define Frequency Modulation (FM). A carrier of peak amplitude 6V and frequency 65MHz is
frequency modulated by a sinusoidal voltage of peak amplitude 3V and frequency 5 KHz. If the
frequency sensitivity is 6Hz/V, calculate the frequency deviation and modulation index. Write the
equation for the resulting FM wave.

15. Draw the block diagram of digital communication system and explain the function of each block.
